"More than just a Côtes du Rhône!
"A palette of dark berries and spices, more typical of Grenache with its core. The nose is southern but not excessive. The palate is poised, rather infused for a wine with this richness, but the whole is correct." (Le Guide des Meilleurs Vins de France 2022 - RVF). In a spirit much closer to a Châteauneuf-du-Pape, a cuvée of pure pleasure at an affordable price!

Expert opinion
Bettane & Desseauve
Domaine rated (guide 2023) 4*Stars (Top-quality producers, the glories of French winegrowing)
About the domain :
The Armenier sisters are one of Châteauneuf's leading names. Grandmothers of the vine, they work under the aegis of biodynamic viticulture and lavish rare care and attention on their vines. Their range comprises four cuvées: a fresh Côtes-du-Rhône, a powerful white and two highly concentrated, yet refined reds. The cuvée vieilles-vignes, in particular, is remarkable for its power and balance. A highly recommendable estate.

Rated wine (guide 2022) 89/100
Domaine rated (guide 2023) 2*Stars (These great estates, often blessed with fabulous terroirs, are must-haves which, thanks to their consistency and the excellence of their production, must be included in the cellars of discerning wine lovers).
About the wine:
A palette of dark berries and spices, more typical of Grenache with its core. The nose is southern but not excessive. The palate is poised, rather infused for a wine of this richness, but the whole is correct.
About the domain :
Managed by Catherine and Sophie Armenier, the Domaine de Marcoux is one of the leading estates in the Châteauneuf-du-Pape appellation. Early on, it turned to biodynamic viticulture (not certified). The wines have a rare naturalness and depth, an energy and power on the palate that are not supported by any artificial ageing. These great classic wines, marked by the imprint of ripe Grenache, age wonderfully. Despite high maturities, all the cuvées have found their balance and seem less hot than in the past. The whites regularly rank among the finest in the appellation, thanks in no small part to the work carried out on the soils. The wines have gained in minerality and salinity. Year after year, Lirac becomes a must-have.
