"Finesse, roundness, and complexity are the hallmarks of white Crozes."

"A delicious, aromatic, and precise blend of 50% Marsanne and 50% Roussanne. The nose reveals notes of white peaches, dried lemons, white flowers, and a hint of verbena. Medium-bodied, it is delicious and succulent on the palate. Textured and herbaceous, with a refreshing finish. (James Suckling 2024) • First vintage of this white cuvée • Limited quantities

Rated estate (2024 guide) 3 stars (High-quality production, serving as a benchmark in its sector)

About the estate:

One of the most consistent estates in the Crozes appellation for over thirty years, where vines and apricots are cultivated with equal passion. Julien and David have joined their father Laurent. They cultivate 50 hectares of vines, mainly located on the rounded pebbles of the Plaine des Châssis, as well as a few granite areas to the north of the appellation and a little in Saint-Joseph. The Clos-des-Grives, produced from nine hectares of lovingly tended vines, excels over time in both colors.

Wine rated (2025 guide) 92/100

Rated estate (2024 guide) 2 stars (These very large estates, often blessed with fabulous terroirs, are must-haves which, thanks to their consistency and the excellence of their production, deserve a place in the cellars of discerning wine lovers).

About the estate:

A charming man, Laurent Combier has revealed the greatness of the beautiful terroirs of Crozes-Hermitage, on the clay-limestone plateau with rounded pebbles of Pont-d'Isère. Vintage after vintage, he has continuously improved his wines in terms of finesse and definition, to the point where they can be compared, without embarrassment, to vintages from much more prestigious terroirs. His Clos des Grives is one of the most seductive and profound Syrahs in the Rhône. Its aging potential is remarkable in great vintages. Laurent now works alongside his sons Julien and David.

Note and opinion by Mr. JEAN-MICHEL P. Published on 07/18/2025

A very good wine, combining orchard fruits with subtle and interesting hints of smoky oak aging. Beautifully balanced on the palate.
