Domaine Salel et Renaud
Created in 2008 in the Cévennes region of Ardèche, 3 hectares of vines were cultivated under the IGP Coteaux de l'Ardèche label, and a garage was used as a cellar... What a challenge and what changes! Today, the vineyard extends over 11 ha of terraced vineyards at altitudes of 300 to 500 meters, amidst remarkable landscapes shaped by the ancients, which Benoit and Élise wish to preserve for future generations.

An atypical and somewhat wild vineyard, some plots cannot be mechanized due to their slope, so everything is worked by hand like some vineyards in the Northern Rhône Valley.
The grapes are harvested exclusively by hand, so that they can be sorted in the vineyard. This high-altitude vineyard produces wines of great freshness, finesse and elegance.
Benoît and Elise met at university, where they were studying viticulture, and the idea of setting up their own winery became obvious. From internships to training courses, their passion and know-how grew, culminating a few years later in their setting up in the Ardèche.
The grandchildren of farmers from the Ardèche region, both had never been involved in farming and had no land of their own. Setting up in business has not always been easy, and it has taken a great deal of courage and ambition to get where they are today. Harvesting, cleaning up, planting: for these "cultivating" winegrowers, the gamble has paid off!

Emblematic Sud Ardèche grapes such as Viognier and Chatus flourish alongside Gamay, Grenache and Syrah, as well as Roussanne and Vermentino.

Élise and Benoit are now in love with their vines and their work, and this is reflected in the personality of their wines. Straightforward, generous, honest and unpretentious, just like them. Their greatest pride is to showcase, through their wines, the marvellous terroirs of the Southern Ardèche, which are little known but which have nothing to be ashamed of when compared with the terroirs of the Northern Côtes du Rhône.

haute couture

Emblematic of the Cévenne ardéchoise region, Chatus is available here in "haute couture" style. Le Temps qui reste can be found in Michelin-starred establishments such as Bocuse, Pic... Rediscover this forgotten grape variety with its strong character and surprising charisma. Powerful and tannic, this red wine reveals notes of black fruit, prunes, leather, quince paste and cigar. Deep, it can be appreciated after no less than half a day of aeration. Intriguing, original and full-bodied are the key words for this Ardèche red.

(Notes vintage 2017)

A Cevennes grape variety that fell into oblivion after the phylloxera crisis, Chatus has enjoyed an incredible renaissance in recent years. Usually a robust, full-bodied vin de garde that doesn't need to be kept for more than 3 years, Chatus or Syramuse is now available as a full-bodied, fruity wine, accessible as a vin de copain to appreciate all the facets of the grape variety and terroir. Let yourself be tempted by this original, exclusive varietal wine and its gourmet mouthfeel!
