Principality of Orange
The Principauté d'OrangePGI is a regional wine covering the area around the town of Orange, based on the boundaries of the former territory of the Princes of Orange (1230-1793). To benefit from the Principauté d'Orange protected geographical indication, wines must be made from grapes harvested in communes located in the cantons of Bollène, Orange, Vaison la Romaine, Valréas and Courthézon, i.e. a total of 36 communes in the Vaucluse département. The conditions for this label were laid down in the decree of March 5, 1981.

The quality of wines offered as IGP Principauté d'Orange is often more concentrated than for vins de pays de département. IGP Principauté d'Orange wines represent almost 20% of the volume produced in the department, and are mainly blended wines. The results can be surprising, as with the wines offered by Domaine de la Janasse.

"A very nice entry-level product".

"Notes of redcurrants, red bell pepper, orange zest and sweet spices. Medium-bodied, with taut tannins. Dark and slightly crisp, the Merlot influence is felt on the palate, and the finish is compact. Merlot, Syrah, Cabernet Sauvignon and Grenache. Enjoy or keep. (James Suckling 2023)

(Notes vintage 2017)

A well-born Viognier with character, fresh but with the muscle of the in the bottle. Ideal as an aperitif or with a scallop and mesclun salad. A great starter!

Both a rosé de presse and a rosé de saignée, this cuvée blends greediness and crispness in a single bottle. We love its fruitiness, freshness and lightness, making it a must-have for summer aperitifs. The latest addition to the domaine is very affordable!
