Already a "Coup de Coeur" in the 2020 Guide, the domaine does it again. You don't change a winning formula: an unvarnished, wood-free expression of fruit, manifested by an unbridled nose of jammy red fruits, spices and liquorice, and a broad, fleshy palate, bursting with fruit, both sunny and elegant in texture. A magnificent expression of the appellation with an added dimension of refinement. Already irresistible, but with good cellaring potential". (Le Guide Hachette des Vins 2021)

Domain rated (2022 guide) 3*Stars (High-quality production, a benchmark in its sector)

About the domain :

At this historic Tavel estate, the Maby family produces wines of uniform quality, always honest, pleasant and fleshy. Managed by the dynamic Richard Maby, the domaine continues to progress, with the wines gaining in precision every year. The vineyards are located in the communes of Tavel, the Lirac plateau and in the neighboring Côtes du Rhône. Reasonable prices and consistent quality make this estate a sure bet on today's market, in all three colors.

About the domain :

This estate, which is highly consistent in terms of quality, notably for its lirac, in all 3 colors, and tavel wines, was founded in 1950 by Armand Maby. In 2005, his grandson Richard took over the reins of the 53-hectare vineyard, mostly located on the rolled pebbles of the Vallongue plateau; the vines are cultivated "au naturel", and will be converted to organic farming in 2019. Since 2011, Philippe Cambie, an eminent Rhône nologist, has been advising the estate.

A nose of overripe red fruit doesn't give me much hope of a wine to keep.

the best of the three Lirac bought on the site. the tannins are mellow, the aromas more subtle - in short, more pleasure than with the other two for a similar price (la loyane and usseglio).
