About the domain :

The Gripa family arrived in Saint-Péray in the 17th century, then settled in Mauves around 1850. An established name in the northern Rhône Valley, both for its Saint-Péray and Saint-Joseph wines (as witnessed by the numerous Favorites awards obtained in both appellations), the estate has been run since 2001 by Fabrice Gripa, Bernard's son, who now heads 18 ha of vines.

About the domain :

Fabrice Gripa continues his father's work at the only Mauves estate to produce as many whites as reds. And he masters his subject perfectly, delivering different cuvées with strong personalities. The whites are showcased in four cuvées: two Saint-Péray and two Saint-Joseph. The reds are close to the fruit, with straightforwardness and admirable ageing management. A consistent estate of excellent quality.

On the nose, a smoky note of toasted almond. The palate has weight and real mouthfeel, underpinned by a saline note that gives the wine a steely freshness. It's compact and tightly wound, but just waiting to blossom.

Saint-Péray Les Figuiers 2022 presents aromas of ripe yellow apple, white peach, dried flowers and lemon zest. Medium- to full-bodied, this 2022 is expressive, with great energy and a sapid finish. I love this wine.

Always formidable, Saint-Péray Les Figuiers 2022 is another very fine wine from this estate, composed of 60% Roussanne and 40% Marsanne, vinified and aged in barrels. Crushed pineapple, citrus and orange notes meld into a medium-bodied, concentrated and elegant Saint-Péray, with plenty of spice and mineral nuances, good acidity and exceptional length. Give this exceptional, balanced and impressive Saint-Péray a year in bottle and enjoy it within 2-4 years.
