"A great white!"

"The only Roussanne fermented in wooden vats with indigenous yeasts and aged for 10 months in barrels: this is the almost magical formula behind this cuvée, which already reached the heights of success last year. What makes it so appealing? A golden apricot color, a mature and indulgent nose of yellow fruits, broom and toasted almonds, enlivened by mineral notes; and a full, rich, structured palate, underpinned by vibrant acidity and a hint of refined oak. A high-quality white wine to be left in the cellar and brought out to accompany veal sweetbreads in cream sauce." (Le Guide Hachette 2025)

About wine:

The only Roussanne fermented in wooden vats with indigenous yeasts and aged for 10 months in barrels: this is the almost magical formula behind this cuvée, which already reached the heights of success last year. What's so appealing about it? A golden apricot color, a mature and indulgent nose of yellow fruit, broom and toasted almonds, energized by mineral notes; and a full-bodied, rich and structured palate, supported by vibrant acidity and a hint of refined oak. A high-quality white wine to be left in the cellar and brought out to accompany veal sweetbreads in cream sauce.

About the estate:

Since settling here in 1994, Stéphane Robert, who does not come from a wine-growing background, has established himself as a leading figure in the northern wine region. He created his vineyard from scratch, which now covers 11 hectares of fragmented land, with vines in Cornas, Saint-Joseph, Saint-Péray, and Condrieu. The vines run alongside an old railway line and a 160-meter tunnel, still visible today, which gives the estate its name and in which a new winery and aging cellar were built in 2013.

Wine rated (2025 guide) 93/100

Rated estate (2022 guide) 2 stars (These very large estates, often blessed with fabulous terroirs, are must-haves which, thanks to their consistency and the excellence of their production, deserve a place in the cellars of discerning wine lovers).

About wine:

The 100% Roussanne delivers delicious notes of yellow fruit, primarily peach, and flowers, with volume, but above all noble bitter notes that carry it through to the finish. A delicious wine that should age very well over five years.

About the estate:

Stéphane Robert runs his estate with flair and produces modern, precise wines that set the standard within the Saint-Péray and Cornas appellations. These vintages renew the style, sometimes rustic and sunny, of these two small appellations. Stéphane brings touches of refinement to his opaque Syrahs, achieved through the precision of grape ripeness, extraction, and aging. The wines also age very well.

About wine:

A very welcoming nose, with mineral notes, greengage plum, almond, and pear. The palate is ripe and rich, with lovely liveliness. A beautiful blend of power and energy. Balanced, seductive, with a medium finish.

About wine:

The Saint-Péray Roussanne 2022, medium gold in color, offers a ripe and structured style, medium-bodied to full-bodied, with exotic aromas of sautéed pineapple, honeyed orange, toasted bread, and savory herbs. This is a rich and concentrated wine with depth on the mid-palate, good freshness, and exceptional length. It is made for the table. Give it a year or two and enjoy it until 2036+.
