"A great white!"

"The only Roussanne fermented in wooden vats with indigenous yeasts and aged for 10 months in barrel: this is the almost magical formula for this cuvée, already a firm favorite last year. What pleases? A golden apricot complexion, a mature, gourmet nose of yellow fruit, broom and toasted almond, enlivened by mineral notes; and a full, rich, structured palate, held together by vibrant acidity and a refined, barely hinted-at woodiness. A top-class white, to be left in the cellar and brought out again to accompany creamy veal sweetbreads". (Le Guide Hachette 2025)

About the wine:

The only Roussanne fermented in wooden vats with indigenous yeasts and matured for 10 months in barrel: this is the almost magical formula for a cuvée that already made it to the top last year. What pleases? A golden apricot complexion, a mature, gourmet nose of yellow fruit, broom and toasted almond, enlivened by mineral notes; and a full, rich, structured palate, held together by vibrant acidity and a refined, barely hinted-at woodiness. A white of the highest order, to be left in the cellar and brought out again to accompany creamy veal sweetbreads.

About the domain :

Since setting up in business in 1994, Stéphane Robert, who does not come from a wine-growing background, has established himself as a benchmark in the northern crus landscape. He has created his own vineyard from scratch, now covering 11 hectares, with vines in Cornas, Saint Joseph, Saint Péray and Condrieu. The vines run alongside an old railroad line and a 160 m tunnel, still visible today, which gives the estate its name and in which a new winery and ageing cellar were built in 2013.

Wine rated (2025 guide) 93/100

Domaine rated (2022 guide) 2*Stars (These great estates, often blessed with fabulous terroirs, are must-haves which, because of their consistency and the excellence of their production, must be included in the cellars of discerning wine lovers).

About the wine:

The 100% Roussanne delivers delicious notes of yellow fruit, peach at the top, flowers, with volume, but above all noble bitters that carry it through to the finish. A delicious wine that should evolve well over the next five years.

About the domain :

Stéphane Robert runs his estate with brio, crafting modern, precise wines that are setting new standards in the Saint-Péray and Cornas appellations. These cuvées revive the sometimes rustic, sun-drenched style of these two small appellations. Stéphane brings to his opaque Syrahs a touch of refinement earned through precise grape ripening, extraction and ageing. The wines also age very well.

About the wine:

A very welcoming nose, with notes of mineral, greengage, almond and pear. The palate is ripe, rich and lively. A fine blend of power and energy. Balanced, seductive, with a medium finish.

About the wine:

The medium-gold Saint-Péray Roussanne 2022 offers a ripe, structured, medium- to full-bodied style, with exotic aromas of sautéed pineapple, honeyed orange, toast and savory herbs. This is a big, rich, concentrated wine with depth on the mid-palate, good freshness and exceptional length. It's made for the table. Give it a year or two and enjoy it until 2036+.
