Bettane & Desseauve

Bettane & Desseauve

Domaine rated 2*Stars (A serious and recommendable production, but a little more regular and homogeneous than the previous one)

About the domain :

La Préceptorie began as a difficult but conquering adventure for the Parcé family. Young Joseph, who had been at the helm of this 32-hectare estate, let go of the reins at the end of 2016, and Augustin and Vincent are now in charge. Situated in the Agly valley, in Saint-Paul-de-Fenouillet, the vineyards are located both in the Maury area and on the slopes of the surrounding mountains.

About the domain :

Banyulenc and therefore seafaring, rooted in the schists and vines of the Côte Vermeille, Joseph Parcé, son of Marc (La Rectorie), arrived in Maury in 2007 as cellar master at Dom. de la Préceptorie, which had been created in 2001. In 2017, the new generation, with Martin, Augustin and Vincent, joined Marc and took over the management of the vineyard's 45 ha.

Note and review by M. GILLES D. Published on 05/05/2024

This white wine has an unctuous feel on the palate, with a consistent, voluminous structure diffusing fresh notes of white-fleshed fruit, apricot and broom on a discreetly roasted background. The finish, firmed and energized by fine bitters, offers good length. The whole is generous and attractively priced, but lacks the pep and greediness of this complicated 2023 vintage. Ideal with wild turbot pavés au beurre salé and creamy risotto with salicornia. Score = 3.9.
