L'Appellation d'Origine Contrôlée Côtes de Montravel provient du terroir d’exception de l'appellation Montravel.
Les coteaux qui constituent l’essentiel du terroir de l'AOC Montravel, prolongent à l’Est, ceux de Saint-Emilion et des Côtes de Castillon. Ils jalonnent à l’Ouest l’entrée du vignoble Bergeracois. Ces premiers contreforts du Périgord Pourpre marquent aussi une frontière entre climat océanique et climat continental. C’est ici, au niveau de Montravel, que vient mourir le mascaret, vague déferlante qui remonte l’océan sur la Dordogne à chaque marée.
Les 27 hectares que constituent l'appellation sont principalement plantées sur des coteaux de molasses de l'Agenais, une structure tertiaire très remaniée.
Les vins des Côtes de Montravel sont blancs et élaborés à partir de Muscadelle, Sémillon, Sauvignon Blanc et Ondenc à hauteur de 10% maximum. Ce sont des vins moelleux dont le taux de sucre résiduel doit être entre 8 et 54 grammes par litre.
Issu d’un plateau de boulbènes exposé plein sud sur argiles ferrugineuses, ce moelleux à la robe jaune clair possède un nez fin et élégant, sur des nuances de poire, de coing et fleurs blanches. Un blanc onctueux mais gardant une bonne fraîcheur, riche au palais sans être liquoreux, où l’on retrouve des nuances de fruits blancs et aussi d’abricot… Une jolie gourmandise !
