Château Montus 2020 offers delicious aromas of black fruits (blackberry, blueberry, blackcurrant), both crunchy and jammy, with hints of spice (black pepper) and flowers (violet). The same aromatic framework as on the nose is found on the palate, in a velvety, enveloping texture, with coated tannins that still need a little time to refine (drink from 2027). Favorite 1jour1vin (tasted in February 2025)!

Domaine noté (guide 2023) Sélectionné (We remind you that this guide is a prize list and as such, all the estates that appear in it, even without a star, represent, in our eyes, the excellence of French production).
About the domain :
Alain Brumont develops his personality through a style that takes wines from Madiran around the world under the label of Château Montus, which he bought in 1980. Brumont's cuvées often go against conventional wisdom, demonstrating his freedom in interpreting the terroirs' yellow and red clay subsoils, with gradients ranging from 20 to 40%. Tannat expresses itself in the château's three cuvées, Prestige, XL, Montus and La Tyre, and certainly delivers the most spectacular profile of this not-easy-to-handle Pyrenean grape.
