Saint-Mont
The origins of the Saint-Mont vineyard date back to 1050, when the Benedictine monks founded the Monastère de Saint-Mont. The vineyard lies at the crossroads of the pilgrimage routes to Santiago de Compostela, on which many pilgrims walked and contributed to the renown of Saint-Mont wines.

Over time, the winegrowers set about developing the vineyard, and in 1957 decided to create the "Côtes de Saint-Mont" defense association. To achieve this, they selected the best plots in the vineyard, reducing the production area in order to produce less but better, and replanted forgotten grape varieties while optimizing wine-making methods. This is how the 1,200 hectares of the Saint-Mont appellation obtained their AOC label in 2011.

The soils of the Saint-Mont appellation are composed of tawny sands, compact and variegated clays and calcareous clays, on which Tannat, Pinenc, Cabernet Franc and Cabernet Sauvignon are planted for the reds, and Gros Manseng, Petit Courbu and Arrufiac for the whites.

Complex and unsuspected, the nose of L'Empreinte de Saint-Mont rouge 2019 reveals aromas of blackcurrant, blackberry and other black fruits, with spicy notes. Melted and elegant, the palate is structured and round, with controlled tannins and a peppery finish. Ideal with duck breast with crème de cassis!
