"A blend of excellent quality, a testament to the great talent of this winemaker!
"It was a vintage that allowed us to show what we could do," said Chris Alheit of the 2022 season. And that's exactly what happened. It's a brilliant cuvée of chenin blanc, sourced from ten different vineyards. Showing plenty of energy from early-harvested grapes on granitic soils, it has aromas of fennel, fynbos and lanolin, flavors of citrus, green herbs and wet stone, and good aging potential, despite the heat of the vintage." About the wine:
Mainly composed of Chenin Blanc and 8% Semillon, Cartology 2022 immediately impresses with its fantastic balance and weight, offering succulent aromas of lemon, almond and citrus blossom. Medium-bodied and with 13% alcohol, the palate is fresh, clean and mineral with a subtly spicy underpinning before displaying a mouthwatering finish. Just over 27,000 bottles were produced after resting in a mix of cement vats, old foudres and old casks. 2024-2037

About the wine:
Cartology 2022 is whole-cluster pressed, with no sulfur added, and five months in tank on fine lees. It has a very pure bouquet of yellow plum, egg white and candle wax. It unfolds beautifully in the glass. The palate is well-balanced with a lively opening, citrus-fresh with notes of orange peel and lime. Alheit mentioned how difficult it was to get acidity, but I think he succeeded here. Excellent, even if I don't consider it the best vintage ever made. 2024-2035
James Suckling
Wine rated (guide 2023) 94/100
About the wine:
Wonderfully concentrated, this white presents aromas of fresh apricots, waxed lemons, crushed stones and green mangoes, with a touch of jasmine and lime. The palate is medium-bodied, compact and waxy. Wonderful length and composition, with lingering notes of perfectly ripe stone fruit. 92% chenin blanc and 8% semillon. For drinking or cellaring.
