Albert Boxler - Alsace Pinot Blanc 2021
89/100
Wine Spectator
Elegant, fresh, and spring-like, the nose of this Pinot Blanc reveals notes of dew-covered grass, primroses, flowering chervil, verbena, wild mint, and eucalyptus, with hints of butter and candied lemon. Concentrated on the palate, it is beautifully round, sensual and fleshy, with aromas of pear and yellow plum, followed by hints of lime, mandarin and grapefruit, leading to a slightly salty finish.

Bettane & Desseauve
5-star estate (Exceptional producers, representing the absolute pinnacle of quality in France and worldwide)
About the estate:
Since arriving at the family estate nearly 20 vintages ago, Jean Boxler has slowly refined his techniques to now produce wines on par with the elite of Alsace. The vineyards are splendidly located, first on the Sommerberg, where Jean has a large plot, and then on the Brand, two terroirs that shine with Riesling, the estate's great grape variety. The viticulture is demanding and meticulous, with ageing adapted to the wines and vintages. There are no false notes here, whatever the grape variety, even the most modest Sylvaner or Pinot Blanc (although the latter comes from the Brand). The 2016 vintage is a superb success, with wines that are slightly less dense than 2015 but will age to perfection. 2017 allowed the Sylvaners, Pinot Blancs, Muscats, and of course Rieslings to stand out within the range. The choice is vast, even if few wines are available at the estate.
RVF - La Revue du Vin de France / Guide des Meilleurs Vins de France
Rated estate (2023 guide) 3 stars (These represent the excellence of French vineyards. The best terroirs cultivated by the greatest winemakers. Tasting their wine is always a magical moment.)
About the estate:
Perched on the heights of Niedermorschwihr, Jean Boxler confirms his reputation as a highly demanding producer with his latest vintages. He brings out the nobility of the Sommerberg grand cru, a granite cirque whose steep slopes make work particularly difficult. The estate owns 4 hectares here, and 1.9 hectares in the Brand grand cru. Various cuvées from several plots are available; all of them now reach an exceptional level, and exploring their nuances is a fascinating exercise!
