Domaine de La Madone
Domaine de La Madone is located on the renowned Madone hillside in Fleurie, Beaujolais. This hillside is often considered by connoisseurs to be the best of the cru's climates. It benefits from exceptional sunshine, and its pink granite soil is ideal for the Gamay grape. Domaine de La Madone has been owned by the Despres family for 5 generations. Today, Jean Marc and Maryse Despres have the honor of producing the wine and marketing it worldwide.

The vines at Domaine de La Madone are cultivated using sustainable viticulture methods to ensure quality while respecting the environment. Great efforts are currently being made to improve grape ripening and reduce the use of phytosanitary products. The grapes are harvested by hand by some thirty pickers and rigorously sorted to keep the ripest and healthiest. Jean Marc Despres vinifies his wine traditionally and according to the ancestral rules of the Fleurie appellation, bringing out the terroir and the fruit. The result is a fruity, long-keeping wine. After ageing in vats or barrels for 6 months to 1 year, depending on the cuvée, the wine is bottled on the estate. The Domaine de La Madone vineyard covers 13 hectares.

"Length and power

"Afraid of frost or hail? In any case, this cuvée refers to the nickname of the Madonna chapel overlooking the vineyard... With its great aromatic intensity, it's a relaxing wine. It evokes stewed fruit, cocoa and mocha. A beautiful marriage between wood and wine, which is confirmed on the palate with length and silkiness". (Le Guide Hachette 2024)

"Concentrated Gamay

Thanks to old vines whose grapes are smaller and more concentrated, this wine is a veritable condensation of Gamay's finest aromas. It's a wine for laying down that will charm you with the finesse and purity of its fruit.

Grille Midi is a Climat classé in the Fleurie appellation. This south-facing terroir is very warm, and its decomposed granite gives a wine with lovely roundness, a full, fleshy mouthfeel and aromas of very ripe fruit such as black cherry. Very classy!

This Fleurie reveals itself to be very pleasant, with crisp red fruit juice and a mineral edge on the palate. A fine, delicate wine, true to its appellation. A red for pleasure!

Domaine de la Madone - Fleurie Prestige 2014

From a terroir of pink granite on steep hillsides, this very pleasant Fleurie reveals a lovely, fragrant nose, exhaling notes of small red fruits, very fruity, with a light, delicate oakiness. On the palate, the wine is powerful, chocolatey and finely woody, with a hint of vanilla. A cuvée with a lot of charm...

"With a very pretty crispness of fruit and above all a silky finish, Domaine Niagara, signed Arnaud Després, delights us with its gourmand side, with a generous finish, with notes of slightly candied fruit." (Le Guide des Meilleurs Vins de France 2014 - RVF). An intense Fleurie, with aromas of red fruit, blackcurrant and wild blackberry...

"With its slightly firm tannins, La Madone also lacks aromatic reserve. But its potential is there, and can be judged by the mineral length on the finish. To be cellared for five years. (Le Guide des Meilleurs Vins de France 2013 - RVF). A full, supple Fleurie with lovely fine tannins and a lingering finish, it has everything to please!
