Château des Jacques
Since 2016, Cyril Chirouze has been in charge of vinification. Respect for the vines, de-stemming of Gamay bunches, long vatting times and ageing in new barrels are the basic principles of the château. This beautiful interpretation of Gamay and this lovely definition of terroir do justice to the title we like to give to the Moulin-à-Vent appellation: "Le Roi des Crus du Beaujolais" ("The King of Beaujolais Crus"). The same passion and demand for quality are at work at Château des Lumières, the true alter ego of Château des Jacques in the Morgon appellation.

-
91/100 Robert Parker
-
90/100 Vinous
"Morgon 2022 opens in the glass with aromas of elderberry, blackberry, violet, vine smoke and dried thyme, combined with traces of cedar. On the palate, the wine is medium to full-bodied, with broad shoulders supported by supple black fruits and balanced by the acidity needed to bring freshness. The grainy tannins are fine but present, intensifying throughout the palate, especially on the finish, and will deserve at least one or two years in bottle to integrate." (Wine Advocate 2024)
Château des Jacques - Moulin-à-Vent La Roche 2021
4/5 (1 review)
93/100 RVF
"Despite the difficulty of the vintage, La Roche maintains its position as a great terroir. Initially marked by the mineral imprint, one discretely discovers scents of flowers and sweet spices. The right extraction and ageing will enable it to age for at least 20 years". (Le Guide RVF 2024)

90/100 Wine Enthusiast
"This wine has an immediate charm of red berries and a touch of tart cherry. It's a little light and crisp for this appellation, but the tannins are well controlled and support the fruit while harmonizing the stony acidity. Very well conceived. Drink now. (James Suckling 2023)
Château des Jacques - Moulin-à-Vent Clos des Thorins 2021
4/5 (3 reviews)
93/100 RVF
-
92/100 James Suckling
"Oscillating between the freshness of the vintage and the warmth of its exposure, Clos des Thorins offers a complete and refined style. Hints of blue fruit, cocoa powder and fern. The palate is sleek and slender, with powdery tannins. Great ageing potential". (Le Guide RVF 2024)
Château des Jacques - Comtés Rhodaniens Syrah "Les Jacques" 2021
90/100 Robert Parker
Syrah "Les Jacques" is the fruit of careful consideration of climatic conditions and terroir, and comes from vines less than 10 years old planted on the superb granite terroirs of "la Roche" and "Rochegrès" in the commune of Romanèche Thorins, Saône-et-Loire. This unique combination lends elegance and character to a never-before-seen red wine that bridges the gap between Beaujolais and Rhône. Its substance and concentration, combined with its freshness, make us want to discover new horizons.

16,5+/20 Jancis Robinson
-
93/100 James Suckling
"What a beautiful nose of red fruit, summer flowers, spices and blood orange this Morgon has! Concentrated, elegant and precise on the medium-bodied palate, it has plenty of vitality and very good ageing potential. Moderately dry tannins and vanilla on the long finish. Drink or cellar. (James Suckling 2023)
Château des Jacques - Moulin-à-Vent Clos de Rochegrès 2021
4/5 (1 review)
92/100 RVF

93/100 James Suckling
-
16+/20 Jancis Robinson
"The deep blueberry nose draws you into this remarkably ripe, beautifully balanced Moulin-à-Vent 2021, which has everything we look for in wines of this appellation from a single vineyard. A supple attack, followed by an abundance of fine tannins on the long, velvety finish with a certain crushed-stone minerality. Drink now or cellar. (James Suckling 2023). Opulent and generous, but always fresh, Clos de Rochegrès is one of the appellation's pinnacles, both literally and figuratively.
Château des Jacques - Beaujolais Grand Clos de Loyse 2019
88/100 Robert Parker
With its seductive nose, blending notes of exotic fruit and white flowers, this white Beaujolais expresses greed and freshness. With this cuvée, Château des Jacques displays a pure expression of Chardonnay. It's a perfect accompaniment to your evenings, as an aperitif or with a fish tartar.
Château des Jacques - Moulin-à-Vent Clos du Grand Carquelin 2015
4.3/5 (23 reviews)
18,5/20 RVF
-
18/20 Bettane & Desseauve
"Perfect balance between concentration and finesse. Delicate, lush, fine tannins. Explosive finish, immense length. Prefers champ-de-cour and la-roche". (Le Guide des Vins Bettane & Desseauve) Particularly complex, "Carquelin" is a fine, delicate wine. Charming, it is particularly lively in the glass. It goes well with all delicate dishes and can be aged for several decades. A great wine!
Château des Jacques - Moulin-à-Vent La Rochelle 2015
4.2/5 (4 reviews)
19/20 RVF
-
18,5/20 Bettane & Desseauve
"A beautiful fruity dimension in this juicy wine, underlined by high-class oak. Velvety and silky on the palate, the wine is beautifully structured without excess. The structure remains digestible and the juice taut on the finish." (Le Guide des Meilleurs Vins de France 2018 - RVF) A full, fleshy and generous wine of great elegance that will age for several decades. Superb!
Château des Jacques - Bourgogne Clos de Loyse 2018
3.6/5 (7 reviews)
14/20 RVF
-
14/20 Bettane & Desseauve
The Bourgogne version of Clos De Loyse releases notes of hot ashes on the nose. The fruit is crisp and the palate well-balanced. Downstream from the Chénas and Juliénas crus, Clos de Loyse offers a distinctive and original expression of Chardonnay, a talented white Burgundy!
Château des Jacques - Chénas 2011
5/5 (2 reviews)
14/20 RVF
-
92/100 Robert Parker
Produced from very poor soils favorable to deep vine rooting, this Chénas is quite intense, distinguished by its delicate floral notes and freshness. A red wine with a spicy finish and good length, to accompany roast free-range poultry, for example...
Château des Jacques - Fleurie 2011
15/20 RVF
-
15/20 Bettane & Desseauve
-
92/100 Robert Parker
Notes: Robert Parker 92/100, Bettane & Desseauve 15/20, RVF 15/20
"From a newly acquired parcel that has long been farmed organically, the Fleurie 2011 reveals deep, delicate aromas of plum and blackberry with zesty nuances of spice, stone, iodine and marrow bone. Deep, rich and long on the palate, and distinguished by its excellent accessibility. Expect pleasure from this newcomer until 2018, at least." (Wine Advocate - Robert Parker)
Château des Jacques - Moulin-à-Vent Champ de Cour 2009
3.7/5 (7 reviews)
Notes : Robert Parker 89-90+/100, Gault Millau 17,5/20, Bettane & Desseauve 16/20, RVF 15,5/20
This pretty wine offers a high-level aromatic palette: stone fruits (plum) and, for the floral side, peony. The palate is silky, marked by noble tannins with nuances of wild black fruit and a light smokiness. A very promising vintage!
