Bret Brothers
Bret Brothers is the trading company created in 2001 by brothers Jean-Guillaume and Jean-Philippe Bret shortly after they took over the family estate. Sulfur mine, located in Vinzelles in Burgundy in the Mâconnais region. The estate was founded in 1947 by Jules Bret and historically comprises 4 hectares of Pouilly-Vinzelles Climat "Les Quarts" and 0.55 hectares of Pouilly-Vinzelles Climat "Les Longeays." All the vines, aged between 25 and 70 years old, are beautifully situated in the middle and upper slopes of clay-limestone hillsides, facing southeast. In 2004, the estate resumed cultivation of two plots in Mâcon-Vinzelles (a total of 1.60 hectares), including the famous "Clos de Grand-Père." Then, in 2006 and 2008, the estate took over 3 hectares in the Beaujolais-Leynes appellation. In 2012, work to expand the cellar was completed, enabling them to vinify, age, and store the wines in the best possible conditions.

Bret brothers, demanding trade

Bret Brothers was founded with the aim of producing great terroir wines from the Mâconnais region. Given that the principle of wine trading is to produce wine from grapes purchased from a winegrower, it is necessary to have high standards in order to make great wines. To achieve this, the company Bret brothers has established specific criteria that enable it to achieve its goal: - Purchase of grapes on the vine, certified organic or in conversion, all controlled and certified by Ecocert - Selection of micro-plots of old vines - Manual harvesting - Vinification with indigenous yeasts - Aging and vinification in their cellar All these elements enable Bret Brothers to produce wines of the same standard as those produced by the Soufrandière estate.

Bret brothers, what appellations?

The majority of wines from Bret brothers are white wines from the Mâconnais region made from Chardonnay grapes. Since 2013, there have also been a few red wines from the Beaujolais region made from Gamay grapes. For wines from the Mâconnais region, Bret Brothers offers a wide range of appellations from this region, from Mâcon to Viré-Clessé, including Saint-Véran and the Pouilly-Fuissé, as well as the different variations possible for each. This diversity provides a good overview of the wines produced in the region, not to mention that each cuvée is produced with the same care. This allows the best to be drawn from each terroir in the Mâconnais. Mâcon appellation wines can be enjoyed now, while the Saint-Véran and Pouilly-Fuissé can be kept for 2-3 years or even longer if you wish. As for Beaujolais wines, Bret Brothers also produces some fine wines, including Beaujolais Lantignié, Fleurie, Juliénas, and Fleurie. You can drink them now or after a short period of aging, which will allow them to develop their full aromas.
