"This very sunny vintage required particular control of the extraction phase in order to prioritize the balance between density and freshness. The clay-limestone terroir was an obvious asset in 2018. Bouquet marked by fruit and freshness, a fine achievement in this warm vintage. Nuances of red berries and chalky notes. On the palate, the wine is elegant and well-balanced. The tannins are fine and in phase with the acid structure. An inviting, convincing wine. A great success. (Yves Beck 2020) " - A delicious red wine from Pierre Lurton, director of Châteaux d'Yquem and Cheval Blanc!

Expert opinion
Bettane & Desseauve
Domain rated 3*Stars (High-quality production that can serve as a benchmark in its sector)
About the domain :
Pierre Lurton, also director of Château Cheval Blanc and president of Château d'Yquem, bought Château Marjosse over twenty years ago, attracted by the old vines and the quality of the terroir: rare in the Entre-Deux-Mers region, asteriated limestone, the same that makes Saint-Emilion famous, is found here at the outcrop. The quality and consistency of this wine, both white and red, is astonishing. The wines are remarkably balanced and pure. Vibrant fruit, silky, harmonious texture, great drinkability, while demonstrating a fine aptitude for ageing.

About the wine:
The estate didn't produce 2017 due to frost, but it's making a strong comeback in 2018. It has good concentration and savory notes of cassis, licorice and black pepper. 25% aged in 500-liter barrels. 10% Cabernet Sauvignon completes the blend. Jean Marc Domme is the new technical director of this estate, owned by Pierre Lurton. 2021-2032

Wine rated (guide 2021) 1*Star (Very successful wine)
About the wine:
This wine delivers a full-bodied bouquet of fresh fig and raspberry, underlined by fine vanilla notes. Round and balanced, the palate is also appreciated for its velvety texture and smooth finish. This wine would go well with a filet mignon with mushrooms. 2022-2026

Domain rated Recommended (Wine producer recommended by Robert Parker - The Wine Advocate)
About the wine:
Marjosse 2018 is composed of 80% Merlot, 10% Cabernet Sauvignon and 10% Cabernet Franc, with a touch of old Malbec. Large old barrels were used for 25% of the harvest. Medium to deep garnet-purple in color, it opens with a fascinating nose of baking spices, raspberry pie, warm red and black currants, rosehip tea and fragrant earth, with a hint of wild sage. Medium-bodied, the palate is full of fragrant red and black fruits, framed by great freshness and soft, supple tannins, and finishes on a floral note.

About the wine:
Marjosse 2018 offers lovely aromas of blackcurrant and raspberry, fresh and vibrant in the glass; notes of plum jam and black olive appear with time. The palate is underpinned by fine tannins, good substance and a crisp, cedar-tinged finish that is pure bliss. A must-have from Pierre Lurton's estate. 2020-2029

A lovely discovery, with a charming nose of red fruit aromas and a perfectly balanced blend on the palate. An excellent accompaniment to duck breast or poached liver.

Harmonious and suave, this Bordeaux shatters many of its competitors and is a veritable bomb in terms of value for money. MARJOSSE 2018 expresses the quintessence of complex notes of blackcurrant and stewed black cherry, mixed with subtle nuances of wood, blond tobacco and spice box. Intensely perfumed and well-structured, the mouth is broad and enveloping, offering great volume and remarkable finesse, and deploying a deliciously creamy, delicate touch on polished, tender tannins. Delectable length, underlined by a touch of licorice and cocoa. This beautifully structured Bordeaux will be a pleasure wine with elegance and refinement for the next 4 to 5 years. Perfect companion to grilled Bazas beef entrecôte with sautéed porcini mushrooms. Score = 4.3.
