"The elite of Castillon, typical of this late-ripening, limestone-rich area!"
"Purple highlights, great color clarity, and an immediate hint of salinity through fruits such as redcurrant. Powerful and concentrated with bright berry flavors, it practically defines the term crisp fruit, then softens to reveal a creamier black cherry purée as it unfolds in the glass. This d'Aiguilhe from Vignobles Comtes von Neipperg is truly delicious. Extremely indulgent." (Decanter 2021) - Delivery in wooden cases is available for orders of 6 bottles of this wine (depending on the country and shipping method selected).

About wine:
Aromas of blackcurrant, dark berries, and cherry mingle with subtle notes of incense and spices in an inviting bouquet that introduces Aiguilhe 2020, a medium-bodied to full-bodied wine, fleshy and layered, with powdery tannins and lively acidity typical of this late-ripening, limestone-rich area. Always a safe bet. This cuvée for aging has turned out very well this year. 2023-2040

Rated estate (2019 guide) 1*Star (Up-and-coming stars or quality winemakers producing good-quality wines; you won't be disappointed when tasting the wines from these estates)
About the estate:
This estate enjoys unique success in the Côtes de Bordeaux region, which has remained consistent over the years. In addition to its own vineyards, it also leases land and nearly 100 hectares are vinified under the Château d'Aiguilhe label. This is one of the few brands on the right bank that stands out for its substantial volumes and can boast of competing with some Médoc and Graves wines. This success is due to the expertise of the duo formed by Stephan von Neipperg and Stéphane Derenoncourt (also owner of Domaine de L'A in the same appellation), who also excel at Château Canon-La-Gaffelière, Clos de L'Oratoire and La Mondotte in Saint-Émilion, the other properties of the von Neipperg family.

Wine rated (2022 guide) 94/100
About wine:
I can't help thinking about the idea of kissing stones! Because there are stones, not in the wine, but in the vineyard, or rather there is limestone, lots of limestone. This gives d'Aiguilhe incredible energy, allowing it to boast that it is not affected by the heat of the vintage. What energy and density, with velvety tannins and a well-defined structure. Once again, d'Aiguilhe does not fail to showcase its terroir. 2026-2045
Vert de Vin
Wine rated (2023 guide) 92-93/100 (Jonathan Choukroun Chicheportiche)
About wine:
The nose is fruity, elegant, and offers a lovely full-bodied quality and subtle richness. There are notes of crushed blackberry, almost roasted cherry and, more subtly, crushed red berries, combined with hints of pulpy purple plum, star anise and a subtle touch of limestone/terroir, nutmeg and a very discreet hint of saltiness. The palate is fruity, balanced, racy and offers juiciness, a lovely acidity, smoothness, tension, energy and dynamism. On the palate, this wine expresses notes of juicy/tart cherry, juicy/tart raspberry and, more subtly, crisp plum, combined with hints of blueberry, nutmeg, crushed blackcurrant and a subtle hint of star anise/eucalyptus and salinity. The tannins are supple, smooth and fresh. Good length.

At the top of the appellation and in a sunny 2020 vintage, Aiguilhe never ceases to delight and thrill the palate with its astonishing youthfulness and stimulating freshness, its smooth and exuberant texture, and its subtle balance around a profusion of shimmering, delicately spiced red berries, bordered by extremely fine and deliciously powdery tannins. A gift with a Limousine tab accompanied by pan-fried potatoes and fresh porcini mushrooms. Rating = 4.3.

A pleasure wine par excellence, open 1 hour before serving and enjoy its fruitiness, freshness, and body... An excellent wine that is not overly expensive at less than €20.
