"Castillon's elite!"

"Purple highlights, great clarity of color and an immediate blast of salinity through fruit like currant. Powerful and concentrated with bright berry flavors, it practically defines the term crisp fruit, then softens to reveal a creamier black cherry purée as it unfolds in the glass. This d'Aiguilhe from Vignobles Comtes von Neipperg is very tasty indeed. Extremely gourmand. (Decanter 2021) - Delivery in wooden case possible for orders of 12 bottles of this wine (depending on country and shipping method selected).

Bettane & Desseauve

Domaine rated (2019 guide) 3*Stars (High-quality production that can serve as a benchmark in its sector)

About the domain :

Stephan von Neipperg, who has just restored the château, is ready for a new battle of Castillon, in a vigorous, deep and unctuous style.

Domaine noté Recommended (Wine producer recommended by Robert Parker - The Wine Advocate)

About the wine:

Aromas of blackcurrant, black fruit and cherry mingle with subtle notes of incense and spice in an inviting bouquet to present d'Aiguilhe 2020, a medium- to full-bodied, fleshy, layered wine with powdery tannins and the lively acidity typical of this late-ripening, limestone-rich sector. Always a safe bet. This cuvée de garde has revealed itself very well this year. 2023-2040

Estate rated (2019 guide) 1*Star (Stars in the making or quality winemakers with good production levels, you won't be disappointed when you taste the wines from these estates)

About the domain :

The success of this estate, unique in the Côtes de Bordeaux region, has continued with each passing vintage. In addition to the estate's own vineyards, leases have been added and almost 100 hectares are vinified under the Château d'Aiguilhe name. This is one of the few brands on the Right Bank that has made a name for itself with its substantial volumes, and can now compete with a number of Médoc and Graves crus. This success is due to the expertise of the duo of Stephan von Neipperg and Stéphane Derenoncourt (also owner of Domaine de L'A in the same appellation), who are also renowned at Château Canon-La-Gaffelière, Clos de L'Oratoire and La Mondotte in Saint-Émilion, the von Neipperg family's other properties.

About the wine:

Black cherry, dark berry and orange peel with some cedar aromas, which continue into a medium body with fine, chalky tannins. Notes of dried herbs and bark. A little salt too. For drinking or cellaring.

About the wine:

I can't help but think of the notion of kissing stones! For there are pebbles, not in the wine, but in the vineyard, respectively there is limestone, lots of it. This lends d'Aiguilhe incredible energy, and it's a wine that doesn't let the heat of the vintage get in the way. What energy and density, with a notion of velvety tannins and a well-honed structure. Once again, d'Aiguilhe does not fail to praise its terroir. 2026-2045

Vert de Vin

Vert de Vin

Rated wine (guide 2023) 92-93/100 (Jonathan Choukroun Chicheportiche)

About the wine:

The nose is fruity and elegant, with a lovely fleshiness and fine richness. There are notes of crushed blackberry, almost roasted cherry and, more lightly, crushed red berries, combined with hints of pulpy violet plum, star anise and a subtle hint of limestone/terroir, nutmeg and a very discreet hint of salt. Fruity, balanced and racy on the palate, with juiciness, lovely acidity, smoothness, tension, energy and dynamism. On the palate, juicy/acidic cherry, juicy/acidic raspberry and slightly crunchy plum notes are combined with hints of blueberry, nutmeg, crushed blackcurrant and a subtle hint of star anise/eucalyptus and salinity. The tannins are supple, smooth and fresh. Good length.

About the wine:

Round, lush and polished, this wine is rich in fruit and freshness, and notes of crushed stone and oceanic influences make it even more interesting. On the palate, the wine is silky, supple and fruity, finishing with ample length and a fresh saline touch. Drink between 2023 and 2038.
