Castillon Côtes de Bordeaux
The Castillon Côtes de Bordeaux appellation, located some thirty kilometers from Bordeaux and bordering Saint-Emilion and the Dordogne department, produces a wide range of red wines of varying qualities and flavors. The 3,000 hectares of the Castillon Côtes de Bordeaux appellation allow annual wine production of 160,000 hectolitres.

The terroir of Castillon Côtes de Bordeaux wines offers first-rate wine-growing soils: on the hillsides and on the plateau, you'll find clay-limestone soils and molasses (detrital sandstone cemented by limestone). The resulting wines are concentrated and powerful. At the bottom of the slopes and on the alluvial terrace, closer to the river, soils have a higher silt and sand content, with the presence of gravel. The wines produced here are more supple, charming and warm. This geological richness and ideal climatic conditions are behind the diversity and excellence of Castillon Côtes de Bordeaux wines.

Merlot, Cabernet Franc (or bouchet) and Cabernet Sauvignon are the three main grape varieties making up the red wines of Castillon Côtes de Bordeaux. Dressed in deep colors, Castillon Côtes de Bordeaux wines are intensely aromatic, with marked notes of red fruit (strawberry, raspberry, etc.) and stone fruit (plum, cherry, etc.). Depending on the vintage, their palette diversifies to include prune and leather aromas. These are generous, concentrated wines of great finesse, very pleasant when young, but also capable of great longevity.

"Château Mangot's little brother stands out for its explosive fruit!"

"A certain frankness in this wine, which announces itself with explosive, straightforward, clean fruit. The palate is very sapid, with a lovely grain of tannin marked by a lovely rusticity. It's a wine that's right in its boots, that speaks of where it comes from, juicy, sanguine, thirst-quenching, signed by beautiful bitters on the finish". (Terre de Vins 2022) - Signed by the Todeschini brothers, this is an estate to watch in the Castillon Côtes de Bordeaux AOC!

"Castillon's elite!"

"Purple highlights, great clarity of color and an immediate blast of salinity through fruit like currant. Powerful and concentrated with bright berry flavors, it practically defines the term crisp fruit, then softens to reveal a creamier black cherry purée as it unfolds in the glass. This d'Aiguilhe from Vignobles Comtes von Neipperg is very tasty indeed. Extremely gourmand. (Decanter 2021) - Delivery in wooden case possible for orders of 12 bottles of this wine (depending on country and shipping method selected).

"Extraordinary character and personality! Vinous "

"Clos Puy Arnaud 2020 is one of the great wines of this vintage. Rich, deep and deliciously layered, Clos Puy Arnaud shows just how convincing Côtes de Castillon can be. Notes of red fruit, blood orange, spice and mocha invade the palate. Silky tannins envelop the rich, inviting finish. The saline energy and precision of this wine are simply unreal. This is a wine of extraordinary character and personality." (Vinous 2022)

"A great outsider on the Right Bank!

"Obvious freshness from the first moment, lots of body to the tasty red fruits. Everything is in balance and you get both juice, gourmet touches of deepening chocolate shavings and salinity as it develops to the finish. Great stuff and low SO2 additions." "Gold medal at the Lyon International Competition!

"Lots of cocoa powder and dark chocolate on the nose here, on the palate blackberry, cherry and blackcurrant. The palate adds licorice to red fruit flavors. Supple and fleshy. Very approachable." (James Suckling 2018)

"A Bordeaux of this stature at this price is a bargain!"

"Deep plum color tinged with ink and a complex nose full of ambition. The fruit is held together by lovely acidity and firm tannins, a touch of rusticity but brambles and the weight of blackberries bring a sense of pleasure. Delightful to see such a successful 100% Cabernet Franc, highlighting the best that grape variety and terroir can bring. Expect even deeper aromas with a few more years in bottle. Drink between 2020-2035..." (Decanter) Thierry Valette, the great winemaker from Castillon, needs no introduction: here again, he has achieved success! A very fine opus in a vintage of perfectly ripe grapes. The result is a generous, greedy wine with a lovely tannic structure that will become more refined with age. The freshness that gives it elegance is still there. Jolie Gem bio de Bordeaux à prix plaisir, just for you!

"With an admirable backbone and a deep, intense palate, this 2014 flies over the wines of Castillon. Intense, concentrated in fruit and superbly balanced in ageing, this is a magnificent wine." Grace, rigor, freshness, density, it has it all and will age magnificently well. A new star for your cellar.
