"Château Mangot's little brother stands out for its explosive fruit!"
"A certain frankness in this wine, which announces itself with explosive, straightforward, clean fruit. The palate is very sapid, with a lovely grain of tannin marked by a lovely rusticity. It's a wine that's right in its boots, that speaks of where it comes from, juicy, sanguine, thirst-quenching, signed by beautiful bitters on the finish". (Terre de Vins 2022) - Signed by the Todeschini brothers, this is an estate to watch in the Castillon Côtes de Bordeaux AOC!

About the wine:
This intense red, with beautiful fruity nuances, offers good volume, presence and complexity. It's a lovely, fruity wine, very fresh, well made, with good length, which will be a pleasure to drink with meat in sauce or roast. 2023-2028
About the domain :
The vineyards, founded in 1951 by Jean Petit, comprise 37 ha in a single block of Saint-Emilion Grand Cru, on a terroir rich in asteriated limestone (Mangot, an ancient cru mentioned as early as 1510), and 16 ha in Castillon (La Brande), managed since 1989 by Jean-Guy and Anne-Marie Todeschini, joined in 2008 by their sons Karl and Yann. The vineyard has been certified organic since the 2020 vintage and is in the process of converting to biodynamic viticulture.

About the wine:
Presenting notes of cherry, blackberry and licorice, La Brande 2019 is medium to full-bodied, with lively acidity, fine tannins, plenty of cherry flavors and a long, fresh, penetrating finish. This wine is already drinking well. 2025-2030

About the wine:
Among the best Right Bank wines under 25 euros: Discreet on opening, this 2019 fully reveals itself after a few minutes in the glass. A beautiful wine, full-bodied, sappy and carried by a fine, salivating tannic finish. Serve at a winter dinner table.
About the domain :
This is the historic estate of the Todeschini family, who also own Château Mangot, a Saint-Émilion Grand Cru Classé just a few kilometers away. The brotherly tandem of Karl and Yann contributes to the current emulation of the Castillon-Côtes de Bordeaux appellation, a delightful vineyard of intertwined hills and plateaus, marked by different exposures and punctuated by lakes and copses. The 16 hectares cultivated biodynamically give birth to concentrated wines, structured by frank tannins but above all by the salivating strength so characteristic of the region's clay-limestone soils. Bravo Castillon! Bravo Todeschini!

About the wine:
Fresh, fruity bouquet of good intensity, with notes of blackcurrant and blackberry, followed by chalky nuances. Crisp, juicy attack. Pleasant freshness on the palate, making the wine inviting and crisp. Slender and well-balanced, it can be enjoyed young. A sapid, thirst-quenching wine. 2023-2033
Vert de Vin
Rated wine (guide 2021) 92/100 (Jonathan Choukroun Chicheportiche)
About the wine:
The nose is fruity, racy and offers a lovely freshness, graininess and depth. There are notes of bright wild blackcurrant, pulpy blackberry and, more lightly, violet, combined with touches of bright red berries, crushed Bigarreau cherry, licorice, a discreet hint of coffee and a subtle hint of almost mandarin/zest. Fruity, balanced and racy on the palate, with a lovely acidic structure, smoothness, sapidity and good definition. On the palate, this wine expresses notes of juicy/acidic blackcurrant, bright raspberry and, more lightly, bright blueberry, combined with touches of small black berries, blueberry, fresh violet, as well as a subtle hint of licorice, zan, spices, a very discreet touch of iris, pepper and toast. Precise, well-executed tannins. Good length. A well-rounded wine with generous fruit!

Note and review by M. GILLES D. Published on 06/09/2024
Favorite for this elegant, fine Castillon from an excellent 2019 vintage that is as demonstrative as it is energetic. It seduces with its suave mouthfeel, developing remarkable complexity and great volume. The abundant, nicely acidic juiciness on intense, radiant fruit (cherry, black plum, blueberry, raspberry), is combined with fine spices and coffee notes. With a fine, powdery grain, the soft tannins glide to a savory, insistent finish whose sapidity is accentuated by subtle earthy and cocoa touches. Plenty of pleasure in store for this well-crafted Castillon. Accessible and harmonious, La Brande is the perfect accompaniment to a fine meal of Limousin chateaubriands with green pepper sauce and gratin dauphinois. Score = 4.2.
