Château Puygueraud
Château Puygueraud was acquired by George Thienpont in 1946. He replanted the property with vines in the late 1970s. Since 1983, his son Nicolas has been making the wines, under the guidance of Stéphane Derenoncourt and Julien Lavenu.

Château Puygueraud is expanding its vineyard by restructuring and adding new plots. Numerous investments were made in the winery, with the installation of concrete vats for whole-berry vinification and punching down. This has enabled progress to be made in the definition of parcels and in the precision of extraction. Château Puygueraud is produced mainly from Merlot grapes, with a fairly high proportion of Cabernet for the appellation and a hint of Malbec, which adds a peppery touch to the blend.

Château Puygueraud has become the "flagship" property of the Côtes de Francs and a benchmark in the revival of this still too little-known appellation.

"Property of Nicolas Thienpont, a renowned winegrower".

"Tropical fruit but also white stone fruit, nuanced nose of pear and white flower. Lively with orange and lemon juice and zest on the palate, giving a touch of sweet, tart and bitter, all nicely complex. I like the texture here, sharp but dynamic, taut and concentrated, there ' s a nice precision and good overall structure. " (Decanter 2022) - Château Puygueraud is owned by renowned winemaker Nicolas Thienpont, as are the Grands Crus Classés Pavie Macquin and Larcis Ducasse in Saint-Emilion.

"Juicy, crisp lemons, tropical fruit, honeysuckle and white peach create a solid perfume. The wine is fresh, creamy and spicy, leaving you with soft, creamy sensations of green apple and lime. Best value in the Bordeaux Blanc appellation for this vintage" (The Wine Cellar Jeff Leve 2021)

"Another fine opus from Puygueraud (the birthplace of the Thienpont family), the 2011 offers a dense blue/purple color accompanied by abundant aromas of blueberry, blackberry, charcoal and graphite. Clearly superior to its modest pedigree, this revelation of the vintage possesses good structure, beautifully pure fruit and decade-long drinkability."
