Graves de Vayres

Graves-de-Vayres PDO is a French white and red wine produced in the communes of Vayres and Arveyres. This appellation is located in the heart of the Bordeaux vineyards, halfway between Bordeaux and Saint-Émilion, north of the Entre-deux-Mers region, on the left bank of the Dordogne. It has been famous since the mid-19th century. The appellation is the second oldest in the Bordeaux region, and the magnificent Château de Vayres is a majestic testimony to this historic past. The soils are gravelly, with successive layers of alios deposited by the Dordogne river, ochre clays, sands and very soft silts. These soils allow the Merlot grapes to flourish and express their distinctive character to the full.The Graves de Vayres spirit happily combines roundness and silky tannins with the minerality and finesse of the gravelly soil.
