Bettane & Desseauve
Wine rated 90/100
Rated estate (2023 guide) 2 stars (A serious and recommendable production, but a little more consistent and uniform than the previous one)
About wine:
Beautiful nose of red fruits, excellent flesh and immediate integration of wood, elegant tannins, superb formal success, charm and depth. Likely to offer good value for money.
About the estate:
Long considered one of the appellation's flagship properties, this very large estate in the southern Graves region belongs to the Levêque family, who are also renowned brokers in the Bordeaux region. It is now managed by Hubert de Boüard (Château Angélus), who produces very typical red and white wines destined for great success. Both the red and white wines are very expressive, delicately aromatic, rather refined, and well-balanced. The Caroline cuvée, the estate's flagship cuvée with a well-established reputation, is rich yet elegant.

About wine:
Aged in barrels, this is a lively, sparkling wine with a distinct Sauvignon character (50%).
About the estate:
Created from scratch in 1967 by broker Henri Lévêque, this vineyard, which originally covered 2 hectares, is now a beautiful estate of nearly 100 hectares (HVE3 certified), currently run by the founder's daughter, Marie-Hélène Lévêque, advised since 2006 by Hubert de Boüard. A sure bet in Graves, with numerous Favorites its credit.

About the estate:
An iconic property in Podensac, in the heart of the Graves appellation, Chantegrive was created by Henri Lévêque. This historic Bordeaux wine broker began his adventure in 1966 with just two hectares of vines. Long a pioneer in the production of ambitious wines, Chantegrive experienced a slump in the early 2000s. The château, taken over by Marie-Hélène Lévêque with the advice of Hubert de Boüard since 2006, now produces wines that have regained their place among the appellation's finest. Launched in 2020, the Les Oiseaux range presents a cleverly modern and impulsive image of Graves wines.

About wine:
Attractive smoky nose. Fresh on the palate with good substance, slightly dry on the finish at present.
Yves Beck
Wine rated (2015 guide) 90/100
About wine:
Intense ruby red. Intense, spicy bouquet. Notes of black fruit, elegant woodiness. Fruity attack, slightly smooth. The wine has body and good structure. The tannins reveal themselves on the finish and provide a good foundation. Slightly bitter notes on the finish, but the substance to absorb them is clearly present. A great success. Well done. Drink while the wine is still fruity. Now – 2026.

Good value for money, but there isn't much left in the bottle. Not very complex.

One of the finest examples of the appellation from a vintage that was otherwise mediocre due to unpredictable weather. A clean attack and slight lack of concentration are supported by silky, supple tannins that reveal red fruit (cherry, blackberry), spices, and zan, complemented by notes of violet. Full-bodied with good volume and perfectly integrated oak. The finish is characterized by a fine acidity. Excellent value for money. Best consumed quickly. In the same vein, the very fruity 2020 white is also well positioned. Served at 18°C, it did justice to a Charolais roast beef with rosemary cooked in the oven and homemade potato fries. Rating = 4
