Expert opinion
Bettane & Desseauve
Domaine rated (guide 2023) 2*Stars (A serious and recommendable production, but a little more regular and homogeneous than the previous one)
About the domain :
Long considered one of the appellation's flagship estates, this very large property in southern Graves belongs to the Levêque family, also renowned Bordeaux brokers. It is now followed by Hubert de Boüard (Château Angélus), who produces a very typical wine, both red and white, destined for great success. Both red and white wines are highly expressive, finely aromatic, rather refined and well-balanced. Cuvée Caroline, the estate's flagship cuvée, is rich yet elegant.

About the wine:
Elegant and complex in its aromatic expression, a fine wine for laying down, full-bodied, supple and round, underpinned by solid, ripe tannins. 2027-2032
About the domain :
Created ex nihilo in 1967 by wine broker Henri Lévêque, this cru, which originally covered 2 ha, is now a fine unit of almost 100 ha (HVE3 certified), run today by the founder's daughter, Marie-Hélène Lévêque, advised since 2006 by Hubert de Boüard. An established name in Graves, with numerous Favorites awards to her credit.

Domaine noté (guide 2023) Sélectionné (We remind you that this guide is a prize list and as such, all the estates that appear in it, even without a star, represent, in our eyes, the excellence of French production).
About the domain :
An emblematic estate in Podensac, in the heart of the Graves appellation, Chantegrive was created by Henri Lévêque. This historic Bordeaux wine broker began the adventure in 1966, with just two hectares of vines. Long a pioneer in the production of ambitious wines, Chantegrive entered a slump in the early 2000s. The château, taken in hand by Marie-Hélène Lévêque with Hubert de Boüard's advice since 2006, is now producing wines that are once again among the appellation's finest references. Launched in 2020, the Les Oiseaux range gives a smartly modern and playful image of Graves wines.

About the wine:
This is a fruity wine, with blackberry aromas in the foreground. The acidity and firm tannins that accompany the fruit augur well for the future of this wine. Drink from 2025.
James Suckling
Rated wine (guide 2022) 91/100
About the wine:
A rather tight, linear red with berry, crushed stone and bark character. Medium-bodied, with firm tannins and a slightly austere finish. 60% Merlot and 40% Cabernet Sauvignon. Give it 2 or 3 years to soften.
Terre de Vins
Rated wine (guide 2021 ) 91/100
About the wine:
After a nuanced nose of blackcurrant, prune and a touch of chocolate, you'll be seduced by the roundness of the tannins, with tender bigarreau flesh, and aromas of black fruits like blackberry and blackcurrant, and discreet mocha. Lots of freshness through to the refreshingly peppery finish.
Yves Beck
Rated wine (guide 2022) 91/100
About the wine:
Currently 36ha are in production at Chantegrive on soils of gravel, pebbles and fine sand on clay-limestone subsoils. Aged for 12 months in barrels, 50% of which are new. The 2020 stands out for its fruity intensity and chalky nuances. Juicy, the wine is supported by precise, velvety tannins. A sapid, harmonious Chantegrive ready for the future! 2025-2037
Tastingbook - Markus Del Monego
Wine rated (guide 2024) 92/100
About the wine:
Dark purple color with violet highlights and an almost black core. Aromatic nose with blackberries, elderberries, aromatic herbs and hints of raw meat in the background. Well-structured palate with ripe but firm tannins, fine fruit and discreet spices, well-balanced with very good length.
