Balac Castle
Château Balac, owned by the Touchais family since 1964, is now run by Lionel Touchais, the third generation on the estate. Located on a very sunny gravelly hilltop that has long been the hallmark of this wine, Château Balac enjoys a privileged location on the main Bordeaux-Soulac road, close to the grands crus.

The vineyard at Château Balac, with an average age of 35 years, has now reached maturity and produces rich, balanced wines on soil composed of gravel, clay-limestone, and sandy-loam. Since 2008, the vineyard has been grassed and the use of synthetic molecules has been limited. The grapes are harvested by hand, with a clear focus on quality and a desire to perpetuate the tradition and conviviality that many come to seek at Château Balac. The estate began its conversion to organic farming in 2019.
