2*Coup de Coeur

Hachette

"This vintage, regular in quality, marks a fine progression (even if the 2009 was also acclaimed). Cabernet Sauvignon wins by a narrow margin in the blend of this 2014, whose deep color announces its potential. Its expressive bouquet, with notes of vanilla, ripe fruit and undergrowth, and its powerful, elegant, long palate, well structured by fairly firm but promising tannins, confirm first impressions: superb." Bettane & Desseauve

Bettane & Desseauve

Rated 14.5/20 (Good wine)

Domain rated 1*Star (A serious, commendable production, in keeping with what one has the right to expect from its appellation(s))

About the wine:

Spicy, fruity nose with hints of clove and deucalyptus, full-bodied palate with fat tannins and freshness. A complete, fruity and very vigorous wine.

About the domain :

Martine Cazeneuve, already an owner in the Côtes de Blaye, took over this left bank estate in 1989. She has worked tirelessly to restore it to its former glory, replanting the vines and renovating the buildings. She also owns a Margaux, Château La Bessane, and a Moulis, Château La Garricq. She has recently entrusted the management of the estate to her son Pierre. Today, Paloumey, which is undergoing organic conversion, has rediscovered the classic Medoc spirit that made it such a success.

About the wine:

This vintage, consistent in quality, marks a fine progression (even if the 2009 was also highly acclaimed). Cabernet Sauvignon wins by a narrow margin in the blend of this 2014, whose deep color announces its potential. Its expressive bouquet, with notes of vanilla, ripe fruit and undergrowth, and its powerful, elegant, long palate, well structured by fairly firm but promising tannins, confirm the first impressions: "superb".

About the domain :

A lovely sandy-gravel terroir between the La Lagune and Cantemerle crus classés. The estate enjoyed its heyday in the 19th century, before falling into decline after the phylloxera crisis and being reborn in the 20th century. The story would be banal were it not for the fact that it was a woman, and a woman winemaker in the Blayais region, who was behind its resurrection. Martine Cazeneuve crossed the estuary in 1990 to acquire this cru, which had lost both vineyard and winery. Joined in 2014 by her son Pierre, the winegrower now has 34 hectares under organic conversion.
