"This is one of the best vintages I've tasted, and the quality continues to skyrocket! ~ Jeb Dunnuck"

"A beautiful fruity bouquet of blueberry tart, blackcurrant, and strawberry. The whole is very clean and precise, despite the undeniable generosity of the vintage. A beautiful balancing act between perfectly ripe fruit, good freshness, and beautifully chiseled tannins that gracefully coat the palate. A refined, subtle and slender 2020." (Terre de Vins 2021) - Delivery in wooden cases is available for orders of 6 bottles of this wine (depending on the country and shipping method selected).

Bettane & Desseauve

Bettane & Desseauve

Rated estate (2020 guide) 4 stars (Producers of very high quality, those who are the pride of French vineyards)

About the estate:

Under the effective leadership of Ludovic David, with the full support of the Sénéclauze family, owners of the 40 hectares of vines since 1935, this wine has gradually refined its tannin quality and the integration of its woodiness. Ludovic David has revolutionized the vinification and aging of this wine, which benefits from a remarkable terroir, equipping it with the most modern tools, which has allowed it to rediscover its Margala character and compete with the best wines in the region since 2010.

Wine rated (2023 guide) 94/100

About wine:

Nose of rose and patchouli. The palate is slender and charming, sumptuous yet restrained and delicate. The structure and persistence are excellent, with genuine floral aromatics and fresh blue fruits with herbaceous notes. It is not overwhelmingly heavy, but rather linear and concentrated, yet stylish. Attractive, seductive, and lively in all the best ways, with a juicy core. An excellent effort this year and a wine that will be accessible soon but will age well. Elegant, refined, cool, and classic. 2025-2039

Wine rating (2024 guide) 2 stars (Outstanding wine)

Rated estate (2022 guide) Award-winning wines (This producer's wines are regularly recognized by the guide)

About wine:

With its dark color, this Margaux needs a little air to slowly but surely open up, revealing complex aromas of ripe black fruits, violets, sweet spices, cedar, mint, and licorice. The palate is full-bodied, velvety, dense, sappy, and fruity, supported by intense tannins, before stretching out into a beautiful, long, spicy finish. 2028-2040

About the estate:

Straddling the communes of Margaux and Cantenac, this vineyard, founded in 1762, has been owned by the Sénéclauze family since 1935. At the helm of the 40-hectare vineyard since 2009 is a new director, Ludovic David, an agricultural engineer who cut his teeth in the Libourne region, working for Bernard Magrez. In 2019, a restaurant opened to complement the tourist activities on offer.

Wine rated (2024 guide) 94/100

Rated estate (2023 guide) Selected (Please note that this guide is a ranking and, as such, all the estates listed in it, even those without stars, represent, in our opinion, the excellence of French production.)

About wine:

The vintage has a ripe fruitiness, square and grounded by abundant tannins. It is still a little disjointed and will need to be patiently waited for. As we often write: "the tannic mass needs to be polished."

About the estate:

Owned by the Sénéclauze family, this discreet cru has been gaining in density and precision for several vintages now. This is partly thanks to Ludovic David, the cru's director, who took over the vineyard and modernized the winemaking equipment. The desire to produce more full-bodied wines with, above all, more velvety tannins is clearly evident. All that is missing is a touch more refinement, which seems to have arrived with the latest vintages.

Wine rated (2023 guide) 94/100

About wine:

The nose reveals aromas of licorice, black cherry, blackberry, cocoa, crushed stone, and violet. On the palate, the wine is silky, mellow, and creamy, with a richness of black and red fruits and a succulent texture, and a touch of spicy chocolate that accompanies you from the mid-palate to the finish. Drink between 2025 and 2050.
