Eye
Purple dress
Nose
At first discreet, the black fruit is finally generous, dense and complete.
Mouth
The impression of rigor is given by the rather lively attack, with acidity that never leaves the wine and traces the thread through to the finish. An elegant, racy framework for a balanced, sapid whole, the sign of an excellent conception.

About the wine:
Generous in texture, dense, quite long, but it became a little heavier at the end of ageing.
Guide Hachette des vins

About the domain :
The story goes that, during a trip to France in 1814, British general Charles Palmer fell under the spell of Marie de Gascq, who was looking for a buyer for her Médoc cru. Palmer was born. In 1853, the Pereire brothers, influential bankers who built the present château and developed the vineyards, followed in 1938 by the Mähler-Besse, Sichel, Miailhe and Ginestet families (only the first two remain). Managed since 2004 by Thomas Duroux, this 3rd Cru Classé, often considered a "super-second", extends over 66 hectares on the Cantenac hillsides.

Domaine noté (guide 2020) Recommended (Wine producer recommended by Robert Parker - The Wine Advocate)
About the wine:
Palmer's Alter Ego 2014 is a blend of 52% Merlot, 35% Cabernet Sauvignon and 13% Petit Verdot. It has an opulent, bright bouquet with layers of small black cherries and plenty of glycerin. The palate is more reserved than the bouquet suggests: saturated tannins, a little chewy on entry but softer on the finish. It feels very linear in keeping with the style of the vintage, the finish a little sweeter than its peers with a little licorice in the aftertaste.
RVF - La Revue du Vin de France / Guide des Meilleurs Vins de France
Rated (2018 guide) 17/20 (Grand vin)
Domaine rated (guide 2021) 3*Stars (They represent the excellence of the French vineyard. The best terroirs cultivated by the greatest winemakers. Tasting their wine is always a magical moment)
About the wine:
Delicate, full-bodied and very smooth on the palate, with good chewiness and volume.
About the domain :
Along with Château Margaux, Palmer is the other great star of an appellation that is all too often heterogeneous. Its style, made of opulence and roundness, with a magnificent silkiness, is nevertheless very different from that of its neighbor. The explanation lies essentially in the difference in grape varieties (and therefore terroir) between the two crus. Château Palmer is one of the Médoc crus classés to include the highest proportion of Merlot in its final blend (around 50%). Palmer has written its legend by producing some absolutely sumptuous wines: 1961, 1983 and 1989 remain unmissable benchmarks. Today owned by the heirs of two great families, the Mähler-Besse and the Sichel, Palmer is directed by the brilliant Thomas Duroux, who has brought the latest vintages to the top. It has been certified biodynamic since 2018.

Rated wine (2017 guide) 93/100
About the wine:
This Château Palmer wine is dense and structured. With ripe bands of black fruit and juicy Merlot, it already shows the potential of the vintage. Generous and ripe, the wine has a fine level of perfumed tannin. Drink from 2023.
