"This 2020 illustrates the fine current form of the vintage, which deserves your full attention!"

"The attack is incredibly greedy, carried by a savory velvety texture. The subtle nose delivers hints of gentian, leather, prune and tobacco. On the palate, integrated tannins form a harmonious whole around a rich, lively texture. Successful balance between density and elegance. Very promising. Bettane & Desseauve

Bettane & Desseauve

Domaine rated (2020 guide) 3*Stars (High-quality production that can serve as a benchmark in its sector)

About the domain :

Philippe Castéja has worked hard to restore a superb family estate in the Pauillac hinterland. The aging of the vines and the construction of a high-performance work tool enable him to produce a supple, fleshy wine that is constantly improving. Its terroir enables it to open up before most of the wines in its appellation, which should make it more present on restaurant menus, with good value for money.

Decanter

Decanter

Wine rated (guide 2023) 94/100

About the wine:

Intense and concentrated, the palate is marked by many notes of licorice and clove, as well as ripe blackcurrant and plum. I like the freshness of this wine, despite the light oak it carries well with lots of minerality and soft, enveloping tannins. This wine is refined, it hasn't tried to do too much. Suave, with a touch of sweetness on the mid-palate and a long, fresh finish. Finely textured with an attractive Cabernet signature of menthol and eucalyptus. A fine effort, solid but elegant. 2025-2039

Guide Hachette des vins

Domaine noté (guide 2021) Award-winning wines (The wines of this producer are regularly awarded by the guide)

About the domain :

Owned since the 18th century by Count Lynch, until it was divided in two, giving Lynch Moussas and Lynch-Bages. Émile Castéja, who joined the family in 1919, took over the estate in 1969 and restructured the vines and winery. His son Philippe has been at the helm of this 35-hectare cru, close to Batailley, also owned by the Castéja family, since 2001.

Domaine noté (guide 2020) Sélectionné (We remind you that this guide is a prize list and as such, all the estates that appear in it, even without a star, represent, in our eyes, the excellence of French production).

About the wine:

This 2020 illustrates the cru's current fine form, which has greatly improved in definition and depth. In fact, it's probably the greatest wine we've tasted here. It's beautifully grained and balanced, with a depth worthy of its rank.

About the domain :

For several years now, Philippe Castéja has been giving new impetus to this classified growth. Oenologist Denis Dubourdieu has carried out extensive work on the estate, starting with the reorganization of the vineyard. Over the last few vintages, the wines have progressed and the château benefits from technical facilities that should enable it to go even further. Lynch-Moussas produces a relatively fine, medium-bodied wine that can be drunk fairly quickly.

Rated wine (guide 2022) 93/100

About the wine:

As Frédéric Castéja rightly points out, Lynch-Moussas is where we want it to be. Our teams have been working on it for the last 10 years, and the work is finally starting to bear fruit. The bouquet reflects the character of Pauillac, with notes of graphite and cedar. The palate is also worthy of the terroir, thanks to precise, fine-grained tannins. They ensure a good foundation and create harmony with structuring acidity. The result is a wine that combines power and freshness, and deserves our full attention! 2026-2045

About the wine:

Dark purple color with violet highlights and black core. Noble nose with aromas reminiscent of blackberries and blueberries, complemented by notes of fresh blackcurrant. Noble roasting with hints of mocha and cocoa in the background. The palate is full-bodied with velvety tannins, juicy fruit and elegant spices. A Lynch-Moussas of great freshness and excellent length.
