"Pédesclaux 2016 is the first vintage to include all four grape varieties planted in the vineyard, according to Emmanuel Cruse. It has a very precise, concentrated bouquet of blackberry, graphite, tobacco notes and a slight granitic perfume - very Pauillac. The palate is medium-bodied with silky tannins, impressive depth, a delicate grip and an incredible line of acidity. I love the harmony and precision of this Pédesclaux, which is probably the best yet. Highly recommended." (Vinous - Neal Martin 2019). Expert opinion
Bettane & Desseauve
Rated 17/20 (Reference wine)
Domain rated (2022 guide) 3*Stars (High-quality production, a benchmark in its sector)
About the wine:
From bottle to bottle, this wine can vary, but our latest (blind) tasting shows a stylish, elegant wine, with nicely integrated oak, and a little more supple than its peers. Drink between 2026 and 2031.
About the domain :
A new, ultra-modern vat room, luxurious and efficient, demonstrates the ambitions of new owner Jacky Lorenzetti. He clearly wants to produce one of the finest wines in his appellation, and has acquired very high-quality terroirs, close to Mouton-Rothschild, which should help him in his ambition. The technically brilliant wines are improving with each new vintage.

About the domain :
Françoise and Jacky Lorenzetti sold their real estate agency network (Foncia) and bought this château in 2009 from the Jugla family. They undertook major work in the vineyard and cellar (construction of a new winery by Jean-Michel Wilmotte) to restore the reputation of this cru, founded in 1810, whose vineyards now cover some 50 ha following the acquisition of new plots.

About the wine:
Pédesclaux 2016 is 48% Cabernet Sauvignon, 45% Merlot, 4% Petit Verdot and 3% Cabernet Franc. It is aged for 18 months in 60% new French oak and 40% one-year-old oak. It has a deep garnet-purple color and a nose of crushed blackcurrants and blackberries, cigar box, new leather, pencil lead and crushed stones. The palate is medium-bodied, elegant, fresh and lively, with plenty of mineral nuances and a lovely earthy finish. Approximately 15,000 cases produced.

Wine rated (2020 guide) 16.5/20 (Very good wine)
Domaine rated (2022 guide) 1*Star (Stars in the making or quality winegrowers with a good level of production, you won't be disappointed when you taste the wines from these estates)
About the wine:
2016 has produced an intense, solid Pedesclaux that just needs a touch more refinement. The ripe fruit is generous and the finish imposes tight tannins.
About the domain :
It's undoubtedly one of the most spectacular developments in Bordeaux in recent years. Pédesclaux, acquired by Jacky Lorenzetti in 2009, has undergone a spectacular, state-of-the-art facelift, from vineyard to cellar. Under the leadership of Vincent Bache-Gabrielsen, the wines have progressed steadily, vintage after vintage, little by little. They are now more than worthy of their classification and, above all, have established themselves as remarkable value for money.

About the wine:
So aromatic, with crushed currants, raspberries and blackberries with notes of graphite and lead pencil. Full-bodied and very tight with lovely tannins and a long, savory finish. The tannins really come together on the finish. Try from 2024.
Le Figaro vins
Wine rated (2017 guide) 95/100
About the wine:
Fresh red fruit, vanilla, morello cherry. Supple, very long on the palate, with supple, elegant tannins and a hint of saltiness. A great success.
Yves Beck
Wine rated (2021 guide) 94/100
About the wine:
A lot of finesse and subtlety in this bouquet! It reveals itself slowly, step by step, and signals its greatness from the outset. Precise, well-typed character on the palate, where the tannins slowly reveal themselves with great precision and relevance. They offer a serene, measured power that appropriately marks the whole palate. An accomplished and convincing wine. 2026-2045
Jean-Marc Quarin
Wine rated (2019 guide) 93/100
About the wine:
The best ever made. Dark, intense, beautiful and vivid color. Moderately aromatic nose, with truffled fruit and a hint of oak. Tender on the attack, very hedonistic in the middle, melting and fragrant, the wine evolves juicy towards a slightly discreet but tasty and long finish. Tasty! Property on the rise, Outsider in Pauillac.
