"Another impressive vintage from this STAR estate!"
"Carbonnieux 2021 is an absolute delight. It offers an exotic blend of black fruits, espresso, licorice, cloves, leather and lavender. Deep, savory and very expressive, 2021 has so much to do, so much to offer. Cabernet Sauvignon takes center stage, which is reflected in the overall structure and aroma typicity of this wine." Bettane & Desseauve
Wine rated (guide 2022) 94-95/100
Domaine rated (guide 2022) 3*Stars (High-quality production that can serve as a benchmark in its sector)
About the domain :
Owned since 1956 by the endearing Perrin family, this great classic of the Pessac-Léognan appellation seduces both by its volume of production, especially in white, and by the consistency and typicity of its style. The very pale whites are fresh, lively and superbly fine, but since 2009 they have gained in richness of constitution. The reds have gained enormously in power and density, and rival the very best.
Guide Hachette des vins
Wine rated (guide 2025) 1*Star (Very successful wine)
About the wine:
Thirty-five percent new oak in the ageing of this Cru Classé, which makes the most of a difficult vintage. Notes of fresh blackcurrant brighten a smoky, roasted nose. The ageing pleasantly coats a graceful, fresh palate, curved by fine tannins that let the red fruit express itself in a light, relaxed finish. Good taste and medium ageing potential. 2025-2029

Domaine rated (guide 2022) 1*Star (Stars in the making or quality winemakers with a good level of production, you won't be disappointed when you taste the wines from these estates)
About the domain :
Brothers Éric and Philibert Perrin, along with their sister Christine Lescuyer, continue to drive forward this important estate, which in the space of a decade has evolved considerably, producing delicious wine with great consistency. The new generation is arriving, and the 2019 vintage has been brilliantly vinified by young Andréa Perrin. Elegant and refreshing, the whites have gained in expressivity while becoming fatter in the middle palate. They won't age forever, and we advise you to enjoy them within the first five years after bottling. However, a few great years can reserve magical surprises for aging. The reds, serious and regular, although often austere in their youth, have also gained in body density. They never taste as well as between five and ten years of age. The vineyard is continuing its restructuring program, replacing Sauvignon Blanc on the fine gravel terroirs with Cabernet Sauvignon.

About the wine:
Owned by the Perrin family, this great estate has produced an impeccable and impressive wine. Rich tannins and dense black fruits are marked by ripe, juicy acidity and spices from the wood ageing. It needs aging, and can be enjoyed from 2028. - Roger Voss

About the wine:
The inviting bouquet of Carbonnieux 2021 reveals nuances of blackcurrant, blackberry and licorice wood. Harmonious in character, the wine is carried by velvety tannins that ensure good density and underline the elegant side. Charm and flavor in 2021; bravo! 2025-2036
Vert de Vin
Rated (guide 2022) 93/100 (Jonathan Choukroun Chicheportiche)
About the wine:
The nose is fresh and fruity, with good definition, a little power and an airy approach. There are notes of fresh/ripe wild blackcurrant, black berries and, to a lesser extent, racy gravel/graphite, combined with hints of violet, camphor, lily and a subtle hint of varietal, almost mocha and Madagascar pepper. The palate is nicely fresh and juicy, with a lovely acidic structure, tension, energy, dynamism, definition, fine concentration, fine grain and a hint of infusion. On the palate, this wine expresses notes of fresh/juicy wild blackcurrant, wild blackberry and, more slightly, violet, combined with hints of small black berries, graphite, camphor, very discreet hints of zan, almond and a subtle, almost iodized, seductive touch. Good length. Elegant, sapid and suave tannins. Good work on the bitters.
