Pessac-Léognan
Expert opinion
Bettane & Desseauve
Rated (2018 guide) 15/20 (Very good wine)
Domain rated (2019 guide) 2*Stars (A serious and recommendable production, but a little more regular and homogeneous than the previous one)
About the wine:
Delicate nose, aromas of honeysuckle, mango, reseda, fresh mint, exotic fruit, clean palate, with good flesh, persistent aromas and a fresh finish. Clean and balanced.
About the domain :
Like Malartic-Lagravière, this property has belonged to the Bonnie family since 2006, and is run separately from the Cru Classé. With 22 hectares in the heart of the Léognan vineyards, including 19 in red, it has great potential, which has expressed itself well in recent vintages. The current style tends to favor freshness and suppleness, not without charm. It has become a must-have of the appellation.
Guide Hachette des vins
Domain rated (guide 2018) Awarded wines (The wines of this producer are regularly awarded by the guide)
About the domain :
Established since the 17th century on a beautiful clay gravel hillside, this 20-hectare cru was acquired in 2006 by Alexandre Bonnie, owner of Malartic-Lagravière. The technical teams of this classified growth have been following his progress, restructuring the vineyard and equipping it with new equipment. Cultivated according to an approach similar to organic farming, it is surrounded by meadows, flowering fallows, woods and hedges.

Domain rated (2019 guide) Selected (We remind you that this guide is a prize list and as such, all the domains that appear in it, even without a star, represent, in our eyes, the excellence of French production).
About the domain :
This Léognan cru was totally unknown until it was bought out in 2005 by the Bonnie family, who also own the Malartic-Lagravière cru classé. Véronique Bonnie-Laplane, Séverine and Jean-Jacques Bonnie are responsible for the spectacular revival of this beautiful terroir of clay and gravel. In less than ten years, the red wines have reached an excellent level of quality, with a deep, sensual, flattering style and an often opulent woodiness. In 2010, 100% Sauvignon Blanc was created, and the first vintages were quite convincing. Now more than just an outsider to Pessac-Léognan, Gazin-Rocquencourt is a mature cru with everything it takes to make further progress.
