"2016 is the first vintage fully monitored by Stéphane Derenoncourt and Frédéric Massie. The red is progressing in extraction finesse with a more delicate woodiness. The fruit stands out in an elegant body". (Le Guide des Meilleurs Vins de France 2018 - RVF) The 2016 red displays a successful classic style with silky tannins. It will evolve very well. Delivery in wooden cases for orders of 6 bottles of this wine (excluding Point Relais delivery method).

Tasting & pairing
Eye
Dark ruby with violet highlights
Nose
At first, the nose is a little closed. It soon opens up to bright, precise fruit. It continues with smoky, liquorice notes characteristic of the great Cabernets of the Léognan terroir. The impression remains fresh.
Mouth
Dense and long, without hollows, perfectly constructed. Powerful tannins with a lovely grain. A great wine in a great Bordeaux vintage.

Expert opinion
Bettane & Desseauve
Rated 15.5/20 (Very good wine)
Domain rated (guide 2021) 2*Stars (A serious and recommendable production, but a little more regular and homogeneous than the previous one)
About the wine:
Powerful aromas of jammy black fruits, leather and smoke are found in a fleshy, flattering, fresh, bright and full-of-character palate.
About the domain :
In the heart of Léognan, this beautiful 75-hectare estate was bought in 1987 by Philippe Gervoson, also head of the Andros company. It produces modern-style wines, with flattering, vinous reds, while the whites have become much more full-bodied and precise. The arrival of Bruno Lemoine as managing director in 2007, winemaker of the famous 1990 Montrose (among others), has enabled the cru to assert even more personality. The reds are undeniably charming but not without elegance, and have great ageing potential. The whites, in much the same vein, are aromatically exuberant, powerful and endowed with incredible personality. A sure bet for the appellation.

Domain rated (guide 2021) Recommended (Wine producer recommended by Robert Parker - The Wine Advocate)
About the wine:
Medium-to-intense garnet in color, the Larrivet Haut-Brion 2016 reveals a seductive, earthy/truffy nose with notions of crushed stone, tilled soil, mushrooms and mossy bark on a core of blackcurrant compote and warm blackberries. Medium- to full-bodied, the palate is elegantly crafted with supple, fine tannins and seamless freshness, finishing with a discreet intensity of salty nuances.

Wine rated (2018 guide) 17/20 Coup de Coeur
Domaine rated (2022 guide) 1*Star (Stars in the making or quality winegrowers with a good level of production, you won't be disappointed when you taste the wines from these estates)
About the wine:
2016 is the first vintage fully monitored by Stéphane Derenoncourt and Frédéric Massie. The red is progressing in extraction finesse with a more delicate woodiness. The fruit stands out in an elegant body.
About the domain :
Owned by the Gervoson family (Andros Group), this estate consistently produces pleasant, accessible wines, distinguished by their aromatic exuberance. Boasting a beautiful terroir on the heights of Léognan, not far from Haut-Bailly and La Louvière, the cru also benefits from modern winemaking facilities with a brand-new concrete vat room. Bruno Lemoine, director since 2007, and François Gaudichon, cellar master since 2015, bring an extra degree of precision to the stylistic definition of the wines.

Domain rated (guide 2021) Recommended (Wine producer recommended by Wine Enthusiast)
About the wine:
Tasted on barrel. With ripe, velvety tannins, this is already a generous wine. At the same time, it has a line of acidity that keeps it crisp and brings out the cassis fruitiness. Put the two elements together and the wine will be in top form after 2027.
James Suckling
Wine rated (2019 guide) 94/100
Rated Domaine (2021 guide) Recommended
About the wine:
Very attractive earthy aromas with a range of herbaceous and leafy notes, as well as a thread of dark fruit and earthy complexity. The palate has great depth and power, with a luminous array of juicy red and darker berries. Soft, ripe tannins. Try from 2022.
