"Magnificent nose, powerful yet retaining great refinement, the fruit is there, the characteristic smoky side too, the palate is dense, with almost chewiness, intense and persistent aromas, great minerality and delicious vivacity." Bettane & Desseauve

Rated 18.5/20 (Wine of exceptional quality)

Domaine rated (2019 guide) 4*Stars (Very high quality producers, the glories of the French vineyard)

About the wine:

Magnificent nose, powerful while retaining great refinement, the fruit is there, the characteristic smokiness too, the palate is dense, almost chewy, intense and persistent aromas, great minerality and delicious vivacity.

About the domain :

Its name is enough to describe the status this estate has occupied for thirty years. Here, everything verges on perfection: whites and reds are racy and sophisticated.

Rated (2018 guide) 16.5/20 (Very good wine)

Domaine rated (2019 guide) 2*Stars (These great estates, often blessed with fabulous terroirs, are must-haves which, because of their consistency and the excellence of their production, must be included in the cellars of discerning wine lovers).

About the wine:

The 2015 white comes from small yields of just 29.5 hl/ha. It is vinified and aged 85% in barrels, 50% of which are new, and 15% in ovoid concrete vats, having been harvested virtually without sorting, and at a less late harvest date to retain freshness and tension. It offers a beautiful expression of fruit, freshness and Sauvignon influence.

About the domain :

Bernard Magrez, who also owns Châteaux La Tour Carnet (Haut-Médoc) and Fombrauge (Saint-Émilion), has made this estate his flagship. Nothing is left to chance to produce the finest wine possible. The quest for optimum ripeness, hand de-stemming, luxurious ageing... This is the archetypal luxury Bordeaux, modern, immediately seductive and evolving with great charm. On the other side of the coin, some vintages have gone overboard. Time then sets things right and calms the wine's ardor, as the terroir eventually takes over. However, since the 2012 vintage, we've noticed a change in style, moving towards wines less marked by the sometimes excessive quest for ripeness, and towards less intense ageing, which is clearly evident in our latest tastings, particularly with the 2015 vintage. In small quantities, the estate produces a white (aged partly in ovoid concrete vats) with a delicate muskiness and elegance that place it at the top of the Sauvignon-dominated Graves.
