Château Pape Clément
Château Pape Clément, located in Pessac on the outskirts of Bordeaux, owes its name to its most famous owner: Pope Clement V. The Château Pape Clément estate belongs to the Pessac-Léognan appellation d'origine contrôlée and, more generally, to the Graves wine-growing area. Based on a soil with exceptional components, the 60-hectare vineyard is a meeting of passion and hard work. Each plot, each vine, each berry is pampered and transformed according to rules worthy of a goldsmith.

Château Pape Clément is one of the jewels in Bernard Magrez's crown of vineyards worldwide. Based in Bordeaux, this great proprietor has made quality his battle horse, hence the care given to this terroir whose exceptional virtues have made Pessac famous for over 7 centuries. Highly exacting pruning and leaf-thinning, hand-sucking, vinification and ageing according to the strictest rules - everything is done to ensure that nature expresses its very best, unhindered.

"True to its signature, all in elegance!"

"The intense nose of blackcurrant and blackberry develops a spicy complexity. From the suave attack, the wine unfurls an impressive velvety framework: a silky texture with melted tannins, bursting with full, fleshy aromas of juicy black fruit, toasty notes and floral iris. A concentrated, dense wine with magnificent balance. The finish is fruity and floral, with hints of marigold and spicy freshness. A signature Pape Clément, racy and elegant ". "The 2011 Pape Clément offers notes of pencil shavings, charcoal, barbecued meat, black cherry, cassis and plum. This is a full-bodied, dense and precise wine, endowed with beautiful elegance. Purity, presence on the palate and a complex aromatic palette are always marvelous in a Pape Clément. This opus should drink well for 15 to 24 years."
