Finely balanced between white pear and richly textured citrus fruit. Very fine evolution over several vintages, a greater style of white. Beautifully complex and well-crafted.

Bernard Magrez, who also owns Châteaux La Tour Carnet (Haut-Médoc) and Fombrauge (Saint-Émilion), has made this estate his flagship. Nothing is left to chance to produce the finest wine possible. The quest for optimum ripeness, hand de-stemming, luxurious ageing... This is the archetypal luxury Bordeaux, modern, immediately seductive and evolving with great charm. On the other side of the coin, some vintages have gone overboard. Time then sets things right and calms the wine's ardor, as the terroir eventually takes over. However, since the 2012 vintage, we've noticed a change in style, moving towards wines less marked by the sometimes excessive quest for ripeness, and towards less intense ageing, which is clearly evident in our latest tastings, particularly with the 2015 vintage. In small quantities, the estate produces a white (aged partly in ovoid concrete vats) with a delicate muskiness and elegance that place it at the top of the Sauvignon-dominated Graves.

Aromas of green apple and lime. Medium-bodied with zesty acidity and a saline, mineral, zesty mouthfeel. Vibrant and intense. So much energy and freshness. Lots of lively acidity. Tight at the end. Give it another 3-4 years in bottle.

A pure, elegant nose of citrus fruits with golden aromas, which reappear on the palate, with lovely notes of lemon and zest. The acidity and bitterness make this a very refreshing wine. A wine that takes you by the hand into an Indian garden.

Light yellow with green highlights. Subtle, complex bouquet with notes of white pepper, citrus and flint. Racy, saline attack. The wine has nerve, temperament and a buoyant structure that supports the whole palate and ensures a persistent finish. A Pape Clément with character!

About the wine:

Pale color. Intense, fruity, subtle nose. Suave mouthfeel, with airy body and a woody nuance on the finish. Does not match the remarkable 2018. Good length.

About the wine:

The nose is fresh, elegant, aromatic and offers lovely definition, finesse of grain and elegance. There are notes of ripe/pulpe lemon, vine peach and, more lightly, peach blossom/apple blossom, combined with hints of ripe citrus (kumquat, tangerine, quince), exotic fruit, juicy apricot, gunflint and very discreet hints of toasted/sweet spice. The palate is fruity and balanced, with a juicy/finely acidic structure, greediness, tension, fine grain and elegance. On the palate, this wine expresses notes of pulpy/juicy lemon, vine peach and, more lightly, crushed apple, combined with small touches of juicy kumquat, quince and very fine hints of juicy/ripe apricot, apple blossom and an imperceptible hint of sweet spice/nutmeg and toasted almond. Good length.
