Expert opinion

Robert Parker - Wine Advocate

Robert Parker - Wine Advocate

Wine rated (2020 guide) 89/100 (Very good wine)

About the wine:

Deep garnet-purple in color, Château Bellegrave 2019 opens with seductive notes of plum jam, blueberry tart and blackberry compote with hints of licorice, earth, cinnamon stick and garrigue. Medium-bodied, the palate is loaded with juicy black fruits and loads of spicy accents, framed by soft tannins and just the right amount of freshness, finishing on an aniseed note.

About the wine:

It's delicious with notes of blackberry and blueberry and a little chocolate. Medium-bodied, with a fresh, smooth finish.

Yves Beck

Yves Beck

Wine rated (guide 2021) 92/100

About the wine:

What elegance and precision in this bouquet. Complex, deep, revealing notes of dark berries, licorice and spices. Creamy on the palate, with tight tannins harmonizing with fresh acidity. Still somewhat monolithic, this wine has substance and potential.

Vert de Vin

Vert de Vin

Rated wine (2020 guide) 91-92/100 (Jonathan Choukroun Chicheportiche)

About the wine:

The nose is fruity and offers juiciness, a little power (but controlled), fine freshness, fine intensity and precision. Notes of boysenberry, wild blackcurrant and, more lightly, cuben pepper are combined with hints of wild strawberry, lily and iris, as well as hints of tonka bean, toast, tea and a very discreet hint of cardamom. The palate is fruity, juicy and well-balanced, offering suavity, fine freshness, fine tension and fatness. On the palate, this wine expresses notes of pulpy/juicy blackcurrant, juicy wild raspberry and, more lightly, blueberry/purple, combined with touches of blue berries and hints of toast, chocolate, very discreet hints of cardamom, tea and cuben pepper. Good length. Well-developed tannins. Fine sapidity on the finish/persistence.
