"A true Pomerol that embraces its power, wrapped in silk. Warm, the nose displays a sunny profile of candied blackberry, blueberry, and dried flowers. With aeration, the more muted notes of the barrel enrich the whole with pastry and cocoa aromas. Superb in volume and density, full-bodied and balanced, the palate delivers a deep and flavorful sap, supported by silky, licorice-like tannins." (Guide Hachette des Vins 2021 Edition)

Bettane & Desseauve
Rated estate (2018 guide) 4 stars (Producers of very high quality, those who are the pride of French vineyards)
About the estate:
This beautifully restored château is a reception venue that lives up to its terroir, considered one of the best in the appellation in the northern part of the plateau. Henri Parent now runs the estate following the death of his mother. The sweetness of its highly sculptural texture, its pedigree and the intensity of its sap have made Le Gay one of the most sought-after wines by connoisseurs since 2004. Once the wines have aged, it will be possible to appreciate all their nuances and great refinement. The latest vintages hold great promise.

About wine:

Superb in volume and density, full-bodied and balanced, the palate delivers a deep and flavorful sap, supported by silky, licorice-like tannins. Definitely suitable for long-term aging.
About the estate:
A leading figure in Pomerol who passed away in 2013, Catherine Péré-Vergé, heiress to the Arques crystal glassworks, ran three Pomerol estates which she brought to the top: Montviel, acquired in 1985, Le Gay and La Violette, complemented by La Gravière in Lalande. Today, the estate is run by her son Henri Parent.

Rated estate (2018 guide) 1*Star (Up-and-coming stars or quality winemakers producing good wines; you won't be disappointed when tasting the wines from these estates)
About the estate:
Heir to the Arques crystal glassworks, Catherine Péré-Vergé, who passed away in 2013, spared no effort in promoting this estate. In just a few years and through considerable investment, she succeeded in making Château Le Gay one of the appellation's finest brands. The advice of oenologist Michel Rolland and meticulous attention to the vines have transformed the estate, part of which is ideally planted not far from Lafleur. The wines are made entirely in barrels, resulting in generous, modern wines for lovers of full-bodied Pomerols. The estate is now run by Henri Parent, Catherine Péré-Vergé's son.

Yves Beck
Wine rated (2019 guide) 94/100
About wine:
What elegance in this bouquet, where you can detect a hint of candied fruit, a touch of chocolate, but also notes of raspberry and mint. The prelude is delicious and slightly sweet. On the palate, the wine is refined and elegant, with well-integrated tannins. They are full of character but also charming, and harmonize perfectly with the structure. A very good wine. 2023-2037
Vert de Vin

It reveals notes of fleshy blackcurrant, fleshy blackberry, and, more subtly, fleshy raspberry, combined with small/delicate hints of blueberry, distinguished/earthy minerality, as well as delicate/subtle hints of sweet spices and a subtle touch of camphor. The palate is fruity, balanced, smooth, and offers good definition, a subtle creaminess, and richness. On the palate, this wine expresses notes of boysenberry and fleshy blackcurrant combined with subtle notes of black cherry, crushed raspberry, toast, chocolate/tonka bean, as well as a subtle hint of vanilla, racy minerality, blueberry, and subtle hints of toast on the finish. The tannins are fine and well-integrated. Good length.
