Château Montviel
Château Montviel is an estate in the Bordeaux region now owned by Catherine Péré-Vergé. Established in Pomerol since 1985, Catherine Péré-Vergé has demonstrated her energy and motivation by undertaking a vast investment program for her Château Montviel estate. The estate is located to the north-west of the appellation, just outside Libourne on the road to Périgueux.

Château Montviel 's vineyards extend over 5 hectares of vines with an average age of 30 years. The terroir consists of a mosaic of parcels of fine, sandy gravel at Grand Moulinet, and more clayey gravel at Clinet, with a subsoil of iron dross. The grape varieties used to make Château Montviel are Merlot (80%), which brings roundness, suppleness and fruit, and Cabernet Franc (20%), which gives finesse, body and fruit to the blend. Catherine Péré-Vergé has always called on her friend Michel Rolland to vinify her wines. For this oenologist, making a great wine means respecting it with the utmost care and bringing out the qualities of the grapes, and thus the expression of the terroir.

"It's a pleasure to return to this vintage, tasted at least six times since its release. It becomes slender and taut, while retaining a base of fruit, but melted into notes of leather and undergrowth. The tertiary begins its work slowly, polishing the already very fine tannins. A moment of refined pleasure". (Les Meilleurs Vins de France - Gault Millau). A great Pomerol!
