"This great wine, full of energy and elegance, has the wind in its sails!

"From the outset, the BSB bouquet (it's easier to write, but note that the addendum takes me 3 times longer) sets the tone! Or rather... the nose. Given its complexity and subtlety, it's a pleasure to savor. Subtle notes of Morello cherry, marzipan, blackberry and graphite. On the palate, finesse rules. The wine is crisp and precise, well supported by the tension of its acid structure and the gracefulness of its tannins. What energy! The palate also stands out for its aromatic intensity, which is omnipresent from the outset. What a great wine that shines with its ability to sing in tune and share its melody far and wide, without being noisy! (Yves Beck 2021) - Delivery in wooden cases possible for orders of 12 bottles of this wine (depending on country and shipping method selected).

Bettane & Desseauve

Rated 96/100

Domaine rated (2018 guide) 4*Stars (Very high quality producers, the glories of the French vineyard)

About the wine:

From vintage to vintage, this Beauséjour progresses, and in this 2019 we have three well-marked sequences on the palate, with a silky tannin touch due to the deep clays that also influence the mid-palate where limestone also crosses over, then stretches the finish by giving the pulpy tannin class. Opened in December, the wine closed in January, and like all premier cru classé wines, we must be patient.

About the domain :

Juliette Bécot now successfully perpetuates the rich, gourmet, intense and tasty dimension of this first-in-class in top form.

Wine rated (2020 guide) 96/100

About the wine:

Rich plum color. This wine takes its time to open up, quite subtle at first, but then exploding with juicy fruit. Clean saltiness where you can smell the slate of the limestone terroir, alongside well-expressed aromas of hints of peony blossom. Elegant and succulent. Second vintage with Jean de Cournuaud as technical director. Yield 46 hl/ha. 65% new oak, a mix of barriques and 20hl barrels. 3.77pH. Harvest from September 18 to 21, with all Merlot picked in 3.5 days instead of the usual 11 (and actually spread over a month in 2018), with only 20 minutes between picking and vatting. Thomas Duclos consultant. 2028-2044

Domaine rated (2018 guide) 2*Stars (These great estates, often blessed with fabulous terroirs, are must-haves which, because of their consistency and the excellence of their production, must be included in the cellars of discerning wine lovers).

About the domain :

Magnificently situated in the central-western part of the Saint-Emilion limestone plateau, the vineyard is masterfully run by the Bécot brothers, Dominique and Gérard, who produce an expressive wine with uprightness and density. Gérard Bécot officially retired on January 2, 2014. General management has been entrusted to his son-in-law, Julien Barthe, husband of Juliette Bécot, who continues to oversee the vinifications. Dominique Bécot, Gérard's brother, remains at the head of the vineyard. His children Pierre and Caroline also work on the estate. In January 2014, Beauséjour bought Château Haut-Pourret, 2.5 ha on the south coast, which will be vinified in the La Gomerie winery, under the Le Bécot de Beau-Séjour label. Vinification methods are evolving, aiming for an elegant approach to fruit, and seeking to give volume to the firmness and length of wines made from limestone. Maintaining its rank of premier grand cru classé in 2012, the château has obtained permission to include the La Gomerie parcel in its land register.

About the wine:

Plum, redcurrant, pinecone, mushroom and bark on the nose. Some licorice too. Medium-bodied, with very tight tannins. Fresh with fantastic tension and dynamism. Refined and concentrated. Spicy and slightly salty on the finish. Try it in 2026.

About the wine:

A purity of ripe, caressing red fruit mingles with the summer perfume of a blossoming woman, with notes of rose and dahlia. Fresh, mouth-watering, comforting and pure on the palate, it finishes on a mineral note, with chalky nuances and kitten-tongue tannins.

Vert de Vin

Vert de Vin

Rated wine (guide 2021) 97/100 (Jonathan Choukroun Chicheportiche)

About the wine:

The nose is fruity and fresh, offering complexity, depth, a very fine grain and a certain intensity of finesse. Notes of fresh/sparkling blackcurrant, wild blackberry and, more lightly, gray pepper and violet are combined with hints of wild raspberry, fresh violet plum, graphite, toasted almond and a hint of fresh cinnamon stick. A discreet hint of fresh citrus fruit in the background. The palate is fruity, balanced, nicely racy, mastered and offers juiciness, a lovely sparkle and a lovely pulpy/sparkling fruitiness with a little exuberant fruit (but controlled exuberance). A nice little stretch of finesse. On the palate, this wine expresses notes of bright/acidic blackcurrant, redcurrant and, more slightly, crisp/fresh raspberry, combined with a touch of tart plum, as well as hints of fresh flowers, sweet spices and a very discreet hint of caramelization. The tannins are fine, precise, elegant and delicate.

Rated wine (guide 2022) 97/100

About the wine:

Deep, dark, rich, full-bodied, concentrated and vivacious, the wine is bursting with black and red stone fruits, crushed rocks, chocolate, licorice, flowers and forest leaves. The wine is powerful, refined, deep and fresh, with a finish that resonates with all its ripe fruit and a touch of salinity in the long finish. This is the 3rd vintage with Thomas Duclos as consultant, and each year seems to improve. Beau-Séjour Bécot is on a roll at the moment! Give this wine a few years in bottle and enjoy it for at least 2 decades thereafter. Drink between 2026 and 2055.
