"The 2019 is really impressive, it's as simple as that! ~ Vinous "

"In this vintage, Pressac was even more rigorous in its selections, so not only did we release a third wine, but we also allowed the second and first wines to progress. The palate offers a silky texture right from the touch of tannin. The wine quickly becomes taut and the mid-palate bounce carries the wine to a finish worthy of the best first growths, all the more so as an irresistible airy, floral touch gives even more complexity to this 2019! Tasted a dozen times after bottling, this wine was unanimously acclaimed by all our tasting teams." Domaine noté (guide 2021) Award-winning wines (The wines of this producer are regularly awarded by the guide)

About the wine:

Suave and elegant, this wine successfully plays the finesse card. We'll appreciate its complex nose of black and red fruits, its richly fruity body, with a touch of spice and plenty of freshness, its silky tannins and finally its well-integrated woodiness. A lovely, balanced classic with good length. 2025-2032

About the domain :

A classified growth (since 2012), vast (36 ha) and historic in two ways: in 1453, it was the setting for the surrender of the English after the Battle of Castillon and, in the 18th century, the local lord introduced the grape variety known as auxerrois, then noir de Pressac and finally malbec. It was acquired in 1997 and completely renovated by Jean-François Quenin, a former Darty Group executive and former president of the Saint-Émilion Wine Council.

Domaine noté (guide 2021) Sélectionné (We remind you that this guide is a prize list and as such, all the estates that appear in it, even without a star, represent, in our eyes, the excellence of French production).

About the domain :

This vast estate has undeniable allure. Its vineyards grow in terraces beneath a spur dominated by the silhouette of the neo-Gothic main building. Remember that Pressac is the local name for Malbec, although there is very little of it here, as the grape variety does not satisfy Jean-François Quenin, owner since 1997. Pressac produces a colorful, intense, demonstrative wine, which expresses itself more in its clay base than in its aromatic nuance, but which shows greater refinement in recent vintages, the result of major investments in both vineyard and winery.

About the wine:

Pressac's 2019 is just as fascinating in bottle as it was in barrel. A complex, mesmerizing wine, Pressac offers an exotic blend of black cherry, plum, chocolate, new leather, licorice, spice and menthol. All the elements are so well balanced. Espresso, lavender, dried rose petal and cedar linger on the complex, beautifully delineated finish. The 2019 is truly impressive. It's that simple. 2024-2039

About the wine:

Very nice aromas of ripe currants and plums with bark and moss, which continue into a medium to full body with firm, creamy tannins, notes of salt and fresh herbs. Very attractive today, but much better in 2025 and beyond.

Rated wine (guide 2021 ) 95/100

About the wine:

The bouquet is full of plurality and depth, revealing itself in a filigree way. It reveals its terroir through chalky nuances, and then manages to bring out the particularities of the different grape varieties of which it is composed. Notes of violets and black berries are followed by a hint of menthol. On the palate, the wine is elegant, with precise tannins that reveal themselves slowly and provide a good foundation for the whole palate. A delicious, balanced and invigorating wine. 2024-2043

Vert de Vin

Vert de Vin

Rated wine (guide 2021) 94-95/100 (Jonathan Choukroun Chicheportiche)

About the wine:

The nose is fruity, offering richness in balance, a racy grain, a fine creaminess (associated with a little airiness) and a certain intensity and concentration justly carried off. There are notes of wild berries, Cuban pepper and, to a lesser extent, blackberry, combined with hints of crushed strawberry, bright black berries and a fine touch of blueberry, nutmeg and a subtle hint of spice. The palate is fruity, well-balanced and offers freshness, minerality, a mineral framework, lovely acidity, finesse in its richness, well-executed creaminess and a lovely guideline. On the palate, this wine expresses notes of creamy blackcurrant, juicy/acidic blackberry and, more lightly, tart/juicy red berries, combined with hints of juicy blueberry, lily and sweet spices, as well as fine hints of saffron, sweet blond tobacco, chocolate and a discreet hint of toasted almond (in the background). The tannins are precise, well-managed, racy and finely mellow. Good length.

Note and review by M. GILLES D. Published on 29/08/2024

Everything already seems to be in place in this rich, deeply colored Pressac for 2019. Enjoling from the outset, it displays an impressive variation of crunchy red and black fruit flavors, mixed with floral notes and subtle toasty nuances, mainly smoky and cocoa-like, on a nicely acidic support that leaves the palate enveloped by a juicy and remarkably fresh juice, yet melting to perfection. The woodiness is discreet, while the supple, precise tannins prolong the sapid, spicy finish. A rising star, an audacious blend, a refined bottle that augurs well for long-term evolution. The taste buds are awakening and the appetite is already whetted with selected dishes, such as Angus rib steaks with pepper sauce, or next winter with a beef Wellington Light version or venison stew accompanied by fresh tagliatelle. Score = 4.4.
