"Experts rave: very good, magnificent, succulent..."

About the wine :

Dark, ominous aromas on the nose, a lovely smooth, contracted and full texture on the palate with fine but dense tannins that give the fruit a chewy texture. Round and straightforward, with savory notes of black licorice, dark chocolate, vanilla and clove spice that mark the finish thanks to Petit Verdot. A bold, characterful style with everything you need for now. Wait a few years before opening. 2026 - 2045

Guide Hachette des vins

Guide Hachette des vins

Domaine rated (2016 guide) Award-winning wines (Wines from this producer regularly win awards in the guide)

About the domain :

One of the largest estates in the appellation, 24 ha surrounding a shady park and an 18th-century château in the Figeac sector, between Libourne and Saint-Émilion. A cru first mentioned in 1886 and classified since 1955. Industrialist Alain Château, its fifth owner since 2005, has renovated the vineyard and buildings, enlisting the services of Denis Dubourdieu.

Vin noté (guide 2022) 93/100

About the wine :

This is a luscious wine, packed with overripe Merlot and rich tannins. Structure lurks behind the generous fruit, while spice and pepper add an exotic touch. The wine is ready to develop. Drink from 2025.

Vinous A. Galloni

Vin noté (guide 2022) 92/100

About the wine :

Yon-Figeac 2019 is magnificent. Overripe black cherry, plum, leather, spice, menthol, chocolate and dried herbs come to the fore in this Saint-Émilion that shows the more exuberant side of the year. There's real depth and substance. Sweet spices, cedar and tobacco develop through to the powerful finish. 2024 - 2039

James Suckling

James Suckling

Vin noté (guide 2021) 93/100

About the wine :

Aromas of cherries and berries with hints of bark and dried flowers. Mushrooms too. Medium-bodied, with ultra-fine tannins and a creamy, polished finish. Lovely texture and great finesse, without reducing structure and length. Drink in 2024, but it will age very well too.

Jean-Marc Quarin

Jean-Marc Quarin

Vin noté (guide 2023) 92/100

About the wine :

Dark, intense, beautiful, deep color. Very aromatic nose, with lovely ripe, fresh fruit. Minute on the entry, delicately fleshy in the middle, the wine evolves juicy, tasty, both melting and dynamic. It's long, very good, with great taste.

Vert de Vin

Vert de Vin

Vin noté (guide 2021) 91-92/100 (Jonathan Choukroun Chicheportiche)

About the wine :

The nose is fresh and offers a little concentration, intensity and depth. There are notes of pulpy wild blackberry, gray pepper and, to a lesser extent, crushed raspberry, combined with hints of blackcurrant, lily, spice and a discreet touch of camphor and licorice. Fruity and balanced on the palate, with juiciness, acidity, minerality, freshness, depth, a little tension, fatness, freshness and delicacy of touch. On the palate, this wine expresses notes of pulpy/juicy blackberry, crushed raspberry and, more lightly, pulpy redcurrant, combined with hints of lily, liquorice, chocolate and fine hints of toasted almond. Good length. A fine saline touch on the finish/persistence.
