Château Cos d'Estournel
Château Cos d'Estounel is part of Domaines Michel Reybier, in the Saint-Estèphe appellation in the Bordeaux region. The Château Cos d'Estounel vineyard today covers 91 hectares. The vines are planted on the thin gravel of the summits and on the southern slopes. Cabernet Sauvignon (60% of the vineyard) finds its ideal soil here. On the eastern slopes and hillsides where the Saint-Estèphe limestone bedrock outcrops, Merlot (40% of the vineyard) excels.

Vinification at Château Cos d'Estounel is adapted to the character of the harvest, giving pride of place to the expression of the Saint-Estèphe terroir. Aging is carried out in new stave-wood oak barrels, which discreetly enhance the wine's aromas and flavors with just the right amount of wood. For connoisseurs of fine wines, Château Cos d'Estournel has become the archetype of a certain style of virile elegance, where power excludes neither grace nor suavity.

"Formerly known as Goulée by Cos!

"A nose of raspberry, macerated strawberry, elderflower and hay, with great elegance and charm. "Absolutely delicious! A great Cos destined to seduce several generations..."

"Superb nose of flowers, "al dente" black fruit, spices and graphite. Very dense on the palate, massive without being heavy, with lovely tension and a caressing finish. Tense and fresh. Great overall precision. Lots of personality and breed. A future very, very great Cos that asserts itself with a chiselled, delicate and powerful mouthfeel, perfectly balanced and with an assertive verticality. Well done! A wine to keep for the next 50 years, even if you can already enjoy it now". "The brilliant Les Pagodes de Cos 2009 has more Cabernet Sauvignon in its blend than the grand vin, adding Merlot and a small amount of Petit Verdot. As powerful as the Cos in terms of alcohol content (14.5%), full-bodied, round and generous, Les Pagodes de Cos presents abundant aromas of crème de cassis and floral notes mingled with woody and spicy scents. Juicy, succulent and remarkably fresh and well-defined, it deserves special attention from consumers. Drink it over 15 to 20 years, and curiously, this second wine is superior to many Cos vintages in the 1960s, 1970s and 1980s!" (Wine Advocate Feb. 2012 - Robert Parker)

Château Cos d'Estournel - Cos Blanc 2010

Rating: Robert Parker 90/100
"Around 7,000 bottles were produced from a blend of 70% Sauvignon Blanc and 30% Semillon. Lemon and grapefruit dominate the aromatic palette. Medium-bodied, with mineral scents, this is a beautifully textured wine with 5-7 years' ageing potential" (Wine Advocate - Robert Parker)

Château Cos d'Estournel - Cos Blanc 2009

Rating: Robert Parker 90/100
"From the same vineyard as Goulée, on a 12.5 hectare plot planted with 80% Sauvignon Blanc and 20% Semillon. Well-made, with clean notes of figure, lemon zest, quince, freshly mown grass and melon/grapefruit with a buttery nuance, this is a complex dry white to drink over 5-7 years." (Wine Advocate - Robert Parker)

"Impressive success, monumental body and texture but with unspeakably harmonious tannin, a triumph of the current art of winemaking in the Médoc." (Le Guide Bettane & Desseauve des Vins de France 2012). Lots of suppleness and pure fruit in retro-olfaction, a well-balanced wine with great ageing potential! - Delivery in original wooden crate for orders delivered in France of 12 bottles of this wine.
