Tasting & pairing
Eye
Very deep garnet-red colour, enhanced by superb crimson highlights
Nose
Explosive, with notes of crushed raspberry, cherry brandy and bitter cocoa. These are supported by intense floral notes that recall a bouquet of spring flowers, relayed by aromas of cedar and sandalwood.
Mouth
An ample, full-bodied attack leads to a dense, powerful and velvety mouthfeel. We find the generosity of the 2016 vintage in this perfect balance between freshness and deliciousness. The cherry is fully expressed, reinforced by notes of orange peel, chocolate and nutmeg. The long finish is accompanied by chalky tannins, characteristic of the Merlot's great success on our asteriated limestone terroirs.

Expert opinion
Bettane & Desseauve
Domaine rated (guide 2021) 2*Stars (A serious and recommendable production, but a little more regular and homogeneous than the previous one)
About the domain :
After passing Cos d'Estournel, and facing Lafon-Rochet, the two towers of Lilian-Ladouys emerge from an ocean of vines. This 47-hectare estate was bought by Jacky Lorenzetti in September 2008. Technical supervision, as at Pédesclaux, is provided by Vincent Bache-Gabrielsen. Dense and colorful, the wines are immediately seductive. The archetypal super-Bordeaux.
Guide Hachette des vins
Domaine noté (guide 2022) Award-winning wines (The wines of this producer are regularly awarded by the guide)
About the domain :
In the 14th century, La Doys was a Lafite tenant farm. After enjoying its heyday at the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries, under the name of Ch. Ladouys, this cru had all but disappeared. It was resurrected (and renamed after his wife) by Christian Thiéblot in the 1980s, then by Natexis from 1989. In 2008, a new change of ownership with Jacky and Françoise Lorenzetti (Pédesclaux in Pauillac), who sold their real estate agency network to invest in the vineyard. They embarked on a vast program to restructure the 45 ha of vines.

Rated (2018 guide) 91/100 (Outstanding wine)
Domaine noté (guide 2019) Recommended (Wine producer recommended by Robert Parker - The Wine Advocate)
About the wine:
Lilian Ladouys 2016 is a blend of 62% Merlot, 32% Cabernet Sauvignon and 6% Petit Verdot aged in 30% new French oak for 15 months. Medium to deep garnet-purple in color, it sings of baked plums, crème de cassis and Black Forest cake with bay leaves, pencil lead and menthol. Medium-bodied, elegant and full of vibrant layers of flavor, very long finish.

Wine rated (2019 guide) 17/20 + Coup de Coeur (Great wine)
Domaine noté (guide 2023) Sélectionné (We remind you that this guide is a prize list and as such, all the estates that appear in it, even without a star, represent, in our eyes, the excellence of French production).
About the wine:
With a great constitution, fruit that unfolds on the palate and abundant but racy tannins, 2016 sets a benchmark for the vintage.
About the domain :
Having had several owners who didn't always know how to exploit its potential, the discreet Château Lilian Ladouys was bought by businessman Jacky Lorenzetti in 2008. The latter, who subsequently acquired Château Pédesclaux in Pauillac and Château Lafon Rochet in Saint-Estèphe, has great ambitions for his vintages. Lilian Ladouys, which has been extensively remodeled in recent years, has found a very respectable cruising rhythm over the last few vintages. The wine deserves the attention of connoisseurs.

About the wine:
Blueberry and blackberry aromas are certainly attractive here. Full-bodied and dense, with a very velvety texture and a long, generous finish of ripe fruit and spice. Drink from 2022.

still a little young, correct for the price but found at Intermarché at the recent 2020 wine fair 20% cheaper without counting the doughnut on the store card.
