"Particularly good with a truly superb brightness and admirable fruit definition! ~ La RVF"

"Over the past six years, the proportion of Merlot has increased, lending this already charming cuvée greater stability, roundness, and body. The expressive, fruity nose heralds a fleshy, fresh, easy-drinking palate, framed by lively, ripe tannins. The delicate, powdery, licorice-flavored palette is already a pleasure to taste. (Terre de Vins 2021) A beautifully crafted wine that has belonged to the Cazes family, also at the helm of Château Lynch-Bages in Pauillac, since 1940. - Delivery in wooden cases is available for orders of 6 bottles of this wine (depending on the country and shipping method selected).

Bettane & Desseauve

Bettane & Desseauve

Rated estate (2022 guide) 3 stars (High-quality production, serving as a benchmark in its sector)

About the estate:

Les Ormes has disappeared, but the hamlet of Pez is still home to this beautiful property, acquired by Jean-Michel Cazes. The winemaking process is carried out under the watchful eye of the teams at Château Lynch-Bages, adding a little extra soul and, above all, a great deal of elegance to the wine. With more careful and precise winemaking techniques than in the past, the wines have gained in refinement.

Decanter

Wine rated (2021 guide) 93/100

About wine:

Concentrated and juicy aromas of blueberry, raspberry, and blackcurrant. The wine is dominated by Merlot (following a restructuring of the vineyard to better align the grapes with the terroir), with bite and freshness. With a lovely smoky touch, this is another successful vintage for Ormes de Pez. 4% Petit Verdot completes the blend. 3.69 hl. 45% new oak. A yield of 42 hl/ha, which is not as low here as at Lynch Bages due to more clayey soil and because Merlot was less affected by drought than Cabernet Sauvignon. 2024-2038

Rated estate (2022 guide) 1*Star (Up-and-coming stars or quality winemakers producing good-quality wines; you won't be disappointed when tasting the wines from these estates)

About wine:

Always beautifully crafted, the wine is particularly good in 2020 with truly superb brightness and admirable fruit definition. Elegant, yet intense and endowed with elegant tannins, it is already irresistible.

About the estate:

This beautiful property owes its name to the magnificent elm trees that once adorned its garden. Owned by the Cazes family (Lynch-Bages) since the 1930s, Ormes de Pez produces a wine that appeals to connoisseurs with its full, rich and seductive bouquet. It is generally drunk fairly quickly and has shown great consistency for over ten years, thanks to the work of a well-oiled team. A good deal.

Wine rated (2022 guide) 94/100

About wine:

Ormes de Pez benefits from clay-limestone soil where Merlot thrives, as well as sandy-limestone soil that is ideal for Cabernet Sauvignon. The wine has good density and fine, perfectly integrated tannins. The limestone character of the terroir comes through in chalky nuances that are noticeable on both the nose and palate. A dense, powerful wine with a finish that is ideally extended by its structure. An Ormes de Pez with character that deserves a little aging. 2027-2045
