The Wine Cellar Insider - Jeff Leve
"An excellent deal for the appellation!"
"Serilhan 2016 is a treat. It has a gorgeous, well-defined bouquet, with aromas of blackberry, cigar box and smoke that gently unfold in the glass. The palate is medium-bodied, with succulent black and red fruits, very fine tannins, a quality new oak veneer, but more than enough fruit, and a long, sensual finish. Utterly appealing, this wine is a true Saint-Estèphe seducer!" (Wine Advocate 2017). This Cru Bourgeois du Médoc is an excellent bargain with immediate pleasure!

Château Sérilhan
Saint-Estèphe
Expert opinion
Bettane & Desseauve
Domaine rated (guide 2017) 2*Stars (A serious and recommendable production but a little more regular and homogeneous than the previous one)
About the domain :
Didier Marcelis took over management of the family estate in 2003. On the 24 hectares of vines, great efforts have been made to improve the quality of the wines, thanks in particular to the advice of Hubert de Boüard (Château Angélus). Today, the three wines produced (sérilhan, moutinot and mignot) form a highly successful trio, still dense and complex, but which have gained in refinement and finesse since Hubert de Boüard's arrival.

Wine rated (2017 guide) 92/100
About the wine:
Full-bodied, fleshy and extremely seductive aromatically, this wine has the vigor of this year's St-Estèphe. It has sweet, cocoa-dusted bitter chocolate shavings and a silky, balanced character. It should be good value and an excellent example of the appellation in this vintage. Very beautiful. 2025-2040

RVF - La Revue du Vin de France / Guide des Meilleurs Vins de France
Rated domain (2010 guide) City
About the domain :
The château was run by Louis Merlet from 1983 to 2002. Today, his two grandsons, Didier and Thierry Marcellis, are at the helm. In the meantime, the merger with Château Moutinot has increased the estate's surface area from 1.2 hectares - a parcel located in the lieu-dit Pez - to 19 hectares in 2004. The château began to make a name for itself in 1998, when it renewed its barrel cellar. Today, the wines are remarkably dense.

Rated wine (2018 guide) 92/100
About the wine:
Sérilhan 2016 has a magnificent bouquet, quite colorful and generous, with ample scents of blackberry and raspberry enhanced by violet and iodine notes. The palate is medium-bodied, with a light grip, quite symmetrical and concentrated, with impressive precision on the finish. The power of this wine is reduced in favor of the elegance of this Saint-Estèphe. 2019-2034
James Suckling
Wine rated (2017 guide) 92-93/100
About the wine:
Layered and very intense, with notes of black fruit and spices. Hints of chocolate. Full-bodied, juicy and fruity. Long finish. The best ever?
The Wine Cellar Insider - Jeff Leve
Rated wine (2017 guide) 90/100
About the wine:
With its burnt ruby color, this wine presents aromas of smoke, tobacco and dark, appetizing fruit. It has good concentration and a freshness ignited by a whiplash finish.
