"The refinement of the ~ Versailles of the Médoc ~ "
"Admirable nose that makes you love it in blind tasting from the very first second, with a charm and finesse that's hard to describe in words and that's found in a "haute-couture" mouthfeel. The Cabernets are beginning to better define the terroir, but there are clearly some remarkable Merlots here. Great class from a terroir that has fully rediscovered its prestige". (Bettane & Desseauve) - A Saint-Julien Grand Cru Classé nicknamed the "Versailles of the Médoc" in homage to the elegance of its architecture and French gardens. - Delivery in wooden cases possible for orders of 6 bottles of this wine (depending on country and shipping method selected).

Bettane & Desseauve
Rated 96/100
Domaine rated (2020 guide) 4*Stars (Very high quality producers, the glories of French winegrowing)
About the wine:
Admirable nose that makes you love it in blind tasting from the very first second, with a charm and finesse that are hard to describe in words and that are found in a "haute-couture" mouthfeel. The Cabernets are beginning to better define the terroir, but there are clearly some remarkable Merlots here. Great class from a terroir that is fully regaining its prestige. Peak around 2031.
About the domain :
This magnificent estate, boasting some of the Médoc's most elegant architecture, has long been dubbed "the little Versailles". It bears the name of Admiral de Beychevelle, Governor of Guyenne under Henri III. Owned by the family of Aymar-Achille Fould, General de Gaulle's minister, it was acquired in the late 2000s by the Castel and Suntory groups. The new winery and the resources given to the excellent director Philippe Blanc have enabled this château - famous in Asia and the rest of the world, which explains its high prices - to fully express one of the finest terroirs in the Médoc. Aristocratic aromas and texture, lovely suppleness linked to the appellation's best Merlot, but with the freshness and well-marked cedar character of the area's Cabernets. The 2016 will go down in history.

About the wine:
Black in color, with lovely purple highlights, this is a powerful wine. And while the nose is discreet for the time being, the palate confirms the first impression: Beychevelle 2019 is full-bodied; a full-bodied wine, then, but also very elegant with its fine grain of tannin, very round, very fresh, very well-balanced, very long. A superlative Saint-Julien. 2028-2040
About the domain :
The "Versailles of Bordeaux". Beychevelle is a jewel of classical architecture. Its prestige also comes from the powerful families who once owned it. Its name derives from a great French admiral, the Duc d'Épernon under Henri III, who demanded that ships passing his château "lower their sails" as a sign of allegiance. Born in the 17th century and developed in the 18th century, the 90-hectare vineyard has evolved considerably, which explains why it is now scattered throughout the AOC. In 2017, it acquired a new winery designed by Arnaud Boulain. Owned since 2011 by the Suntory and Castel groups, it is managed by Philippe Blanc.

Domaine rated (2020 guide) 1*Star (Stars in the making or quality winegrowers with a good level of production, you won't be disappointed when you taste the wines from these estates)
About the domain :
Since 2011, this emblematic Saint-Julien estate has been owned half by Pierre Castel and half by the Japanese Suntory group. It enjoys an excellent reputation, consistently producing elegant wines that are always easy to digest. Without being the most demonstrative, they also age very well. Like many Médoc crus, the château has brought its winemaking facilities up to date, and seems to be making further progress in the precision of its wines.

Vinous A. Galloni
Rated wine (guide 2023) 96/100
About the wine:
Beychevelle 2019 has a very seductive, rather intellectual nose of pencil box and earth that unfolds in the glass, taut and concentrated, with the oak supremely well integrated. The palate is beautifully balanced with finely sculpted tannins, wonderful balance, fresh and mineral with a precise, complex finish. Superb sapidity, this is a first-rate wine with a long future ahead of it. Time to raise my rating. Tasted blind at Southwold's annual tasting. 2026-2060
James Suckling
Rated wine (guide 2021) 96/100
About the wine:
Magnificent aromas of redcurrants, crushed rocks, blackberries and flowers. Full-bodied, with fine, long, highly refined tannins. Creamy texture. Goes on for many minutes. Great energy and sophistication. To be tried after 2026.
Terre de Vins
Wine rated (2020 guide) 98/100
About the wine:
The ruby color is brilliant and the nose evokes an aromatic palette waltzing between redcurrant, blackberry and brandied cherry. On the palate, we look to the estuary, like the Beychevelle terroir, for intensity and velvet, power and glory, superb precision.
Anthocyanes - Yohan Castaing
Wine rated (2020 guide) 95-97/100
About the wine:
Lovely bouquet of fresh fruit, cherry, violet, blackberry and blueberry. Velvety mouthfeel, chewy, with beautiful, structuring tannins and elegant finesse. Delicate, racy aromas. A successful Beychevelle that sticks to its terroir and vintage.
