"It is impressive and could represent the insiders' choice! ~ Vinous "
"The 2017 Glana has a well-defined, concentrated bouquet, with aromas of blackberry, cedar and light tobacco. It shows elegance and refinement. The palate is medium-bodied, with supple tannins, finely pearled acidity and a pinch of black pepper on the finish. While not the most high-profile property in Saint-Julien, this Glana is impressive and could represent the insider's choice." Expert opinion
Bettane & Desseauve
Rated 90/100
Domaine rated (guide 2022) 2*Stars (A serious and recommendable production, but a little more regular and homogeneous than the previous one)
About the wine:
Elegant, restrained nose, subtle fruit and woodiness, palate in the same style, mellow, finely tannic, fleshy, fruity and lively. Harmonious.
About the domain :
Located opposite Château Ducru-Beaucaillou in Saint-Julien, this property is now managed by Ludovic and Julien Meffre. The family also owns Château Lalande and Château Bellegrave in Pauillac. The wines produced are elegant and harmoniously balanced. They correspond perfectly to the idea of a Saint Julien.
Decanter
Rated wine (2018 guide) 91/100
About the wine:
Firm, rich and brilliant, this is a pleasant wine with an obvious St-Julien character. The tannins creep onto the palate, suggesting that this wine will age well. Although subtle, it is also very promising with notes of slate, charcoal and menthol, accompanied by precise, finely placed tannins. The vines were unaffected by frost, with a yield of 50hl/ha. Christophe Ollivier is a consultant here, making the Meffre stable one of the few St-Julien to break away from Boissenot's embrace.
Guide Hachette des vins
Wine rated (guide 2021) 2*Stars (Outstanding wine)
About the wine:
On the nose, stewed red fruit mingles with chocolatey oak. On the palate, this is a serious, full-bodied, generous wine, whose build-up to the finish reveals a solid structure underpinned by firm, promising tannins. A strong character. 2024-2030
RVF - La Revue du Vin de France / Guide des Meilleurs Vins de France
Wine rated (2020 guide) 15.5/20 (Good wine)
Domaine noté Sélectionné (We remind you that this guide is a prize list, and as such, all the estates that appear in it, even without a star, represent, in our eyes, the excellence of French production).
About the wine:
Favorite for this Bordeaux red wine with good length and clean fruit: This is a regular vintage, offering a well-constructed 2017, with lovely substance and ageing that blends well. It reveals good length and clean fruit. It will last a decade without worry.
About the domain :
Resulting from the division of Château Saint-Pierre, of which it was historically a part, Château du Glana had shrunk to just 4 hectares by the end of the 1950s. It owes its development to Gabriel Meffre, a nurseryman from the Vaucluse region, who acquired it in 1961 and gradually increased its size to over 40 hectares. Today, his grandchildren, Ludovic and Julien, run the estate, which over the last ten years has benefited from a complete overhaul of its facilities and a return to vineyard management. The wines are now up to scratch: charming, supple and elegant Saint Julien.

Rated wine (2018 guide) 90-92/100
About the wine:
Purplish purple. Bouquet of good intensity with notes of liquorice and black berries. A hint of prunes and cinnamon. Fruity, slightly spicy attack. Juicy, fresh and balanced on the palate. Good aromatic intensity. The tannins reveal themselves slowly on the finish and are of a grainy type. The structure holds up well. Notes of cherry on the finish. 2021-2032
