" Fantastic, with lots of fresh tobacco, blackcurrant and hints of hazelnut and chocolate. Full-bodied, with firm tannins, but as fine and refined as ever. One of the most structured St-Pierre's in years. Try it from 2024." (James Suckling 2019) - Delivered in wooden cases for orders of 6 bottles of this wine (excluding Point Relais delivery).

Bettane & Desseauve
Domaine rated (2022 guide) 4*Stars (Top-quality producers, the glories of French winegrowing)
About the domain :
This cru, owned by the Triaud family, has joined the best of Saint-Julien in recent vintages, sometimes even surpassing them in quality, thanks to its very old vines averaging 50 years, ideally located in the heart of the village. The wine, which has always been dense, tight and powerful, continues to gain in immediate elegance with each vintage, with a better-integrated woodiness, and always a texture of old vines that makes it equal in this respect to the great Second Classifieds, and even to the First Classifieds. This is one of the most perfect expressions of the appellation's originality, at prices that are still accessible.

About the domain :
This ancient cru (17th c.) has seen some dark times, having been totally dispersed following several estates. Henri Martin reconstituted it in 1982. The vineyard covers 17 ha, planted on a fine gravelly terroir resting on a sandy-clay layer. Henri Martin's daughter Françoise and her husband Jean-Louis Triaud, who ran the estate, handed over to their son Jean in 2016.

Domain rated (guide 2022) Recommended (Wine producer recommended by Robert Parker - The Wine Advocate)
About the wine:
Saint-Pierre 2016 is a deep garnet-purple color. Aromas of Black Forest emerge from the glass, as well as blackberry compote and cassis with hints of cigar, earth and violet and a hint of iron ore. Medium-bodied, the palate has a firm structure of grainy tannins with fantastic energy and depth. Finishes on a lingering chocolate note.
RVF - La Revue du Vin de France / Guide des Meilleurs Vins de France
Domaine rated (2022 guide) 2*Stars (These great estates, often blessed with fabulous terroirs, are must-haves which, because of their consistency and the excellence of their production, must be included in the cellars of discerning wine lovers).
About the domain :
For a long time, this classified growth was the least known of Saint-Julien's vineyards. It was bought in 1982 by Henri Martin, owner of the famous Cru Bourgeois Château Gloria, who reconstituted the terroir as it existed at the time of classification. His daughter Françoise, her husband and Jean-Louis Triaud, former president of the Girondins de Bordeaux, now assisted by their children, have, with the help of Rémi di Constanzo, the cellar master, transformed the estate in recent years. Equipped with high-performance winemaking equipment, vintage after vintage it seems to be gaining the purity it sometimes lacks.

Wine rated (2020 guide) 95/100
About the wine:
Saint-Pierre 2016 has an intriguing bouquet of baked black cherries, dark chocolate, coffee and gamey notes, with the oak more prominent compared to its Saint-Julien peers. The palate is medium-bodied with fine tannins, and the oak is more assimilated here than on the nose. Nicely precise and very well balanced, although there is a sensation of dryness on the finish. I think it will improve with bottle age. Tasted blind at Southwold tasting. 2024-2048

Le Figaro vins
Wine rated (2017 guide) 94/100
About the wine:
Intense red fruit, red plum, small black berries. Fresh on the palate, a touch overripe, clean attack, ample tannins, long finish.
Yves Beck
Wine rated (2018 guide) 94/100
About the wine:
Garnet red with purple highlights. The bouquet of Saint-Pierre 2016 is well typified by its terroir, with refreshing fruity notes and a mineral touch of graphite. There are also notes of coffee and chocolate. The attack is elegant, delicious and fruity. On the palate, the wine's fine-grained tannins form a fine foundation, while the supple structure lends freshness and supports the aromatic character. The finish is expressive and persistent, echoing the freshness of the nose. A wine to be left in the cellar for a while. 2024-2041
Jean-Marc Quarin
Wine rated (2020 guide) 96/100
About the wine:
Black color with crimson highlights, young and beautiful. Intense, fine, fruity and subtle nose. Nuances of coffee beans, both green and roasted. An original wine. Meticulous from the outset, then melting and full-bodied on the mid-palate, very caressing and juicy, the wine mingles with saliva and never leaves the palate. It has great power, restrained by the mellow softness of the flesh. It's superb and unputdownable.
The Wine Cellar Insider - Jeff Leve
Wine rated (2019 guide) 95/100
About the wine:
Concentrated, full-bodied with a touch of oak on the nose and palate. The wine offers depth, flesh and round tannins, with a nuanced finish of ripe stone fruit and coffee.
