The Wine Cellar Insider - Jeff Leve
"A worthy representative of St. Julien!
"In blind tastings, the intensity of body was greater than that of its neighbors, a mark of the high age of the vines, but also with an improvement in refinement of texture and ageing, which brings it considerably closer to the appellation's Second Classified Growths. Remarkable value for money". (Bettane & Desseauve) - Delivery in wooden cases possible for orders of 6 bottles of this wine (depending on country and shipping method selected).

Wine rated 95/ 100
Domaine rated (2022 guide) 4*Stars (Top-quality producers, the glories of French winegrowing)
About the wine:
An intensity of body superior to that of its neighbors in blind tasting, a mark of the high age of the vines, but also with an improvement in refinement of texture and ageing, which brings it considerably closer to the appellation's Second Classified Growths. Remarkable value for money. Peak around 2034.
About the domain :
This cru, owned by the Triaud family, has joined the best of Saint-Julien in recent vintages, sometimes even surpassing them in quality, thanks to its very old vines averaging 50 years, ideally located in the heart of the village. The wine, which has always been dense, tight and powerful, continues to gain in immediate elegance with each vintage, with a better-integrated woodiness, and always a texture of old vines that makes it equal in this respect to the great Second Classifieds, and even to the First Classifieds. This is one of the most perfect expressions of the appellation's originality, at prices that are still accessible.

About the wine:
The nose is very expressive, intense, floral, a little wild with medicinal aspects, notes of coffee, leather and cola. The texture is simply magnificent, with a chewiness found in many St-Julien, but here it's soft, generous, round and fills the mouth in an excellent way. Then a deep core of fruit appears with black licorice, supported by excellent refreshing acidity and minty freshness. I really like this wine. The florality and perfume that surround the fruit on the palate are also very present. This wine seduces with the richness of its fruit and spices. 2025 - 2043

About the domain :
This ancient cru (17th c.) has seen some dark times, having been totally dispersed following several estates. Henri Martin reconstituted it in 1982. The vineyard covers 17 ha, planted on a fine gravelly terroir resting on a sandy-clay layer. Henri Martin's daughter Françoise and her husband Jean-Louis Triaud, who ran the estate, handed over to their son Jean in 2016.

RVF - La Revue du Vin de France / Guide des Meilleurs Vins de France
Domaine rated (2022 guide) 2*Stars (These great estates, often blessed with fabulous terroirs, are must-haves which, because of their consistency and the excellence of their production, must be included in the cellars of discerning wine lovers).
About the domain :
For a long time, this classified growth was the least known of Saint-Julien's vineyards. It was bought in 1982 by Henri Martin, owner of the famous Cru Bourgeois Château Gloria, who reconstituted the terroir as it existed at the time of classification. His daughter Françoise, her husband and Jean-Louis Triaud, former president of the Girondins de Bordeaux, now assisted by their children, have, with the help of Rémi di Constanzo, the cellar master, transformed the estate in recent years. Equipped with high-performance winemaking equipment, vintage after vintage it seems to be gaining the purity it sometimes lacks.
James Suckling
Wine rated (2022 guide) 96/100
About the wine:
Very pretty and typical of the appellation, with aromas of blackcurrant, violet and sandalwood that continue into a full body with layers of polished tannins and a long, savory finish. The palate is long and persistent. Classic structure. Drink after 2027.
Le Figaro vins
Wine rated (2022 guide) 95/100
About the wine:
This wine presents a nose of great depth, with aromas of black fruits (concentrated blackberries and small berries) and cinnamon, evolving with great panache towards grayish, mysterious, mineral notes. The minerality lingers on the palate, where one has the impression of licking finely porous pebbles. A racy wine of controlled power. 2028 - 2047
Jean-Marc Quarin
Wine rated (2022 guide) 95/100
About the wine:
Dark, intense and beautiful color. Very aromatic nose, fine, fruity, pure and subtle. Delicate on the entry, suave in the middle, melting, with body and lots of taste, the wine stretches out on the finish, sappy, long, with black fruit flavors and fine tannins. A very good wine.
The Wine Cellar Insider - Jeff Leve
Wine rated (2022 guide) 95/100
About the wine:
Blackberries, red stone fruits, flowers, tobacco leaves and red currants are the first things you notice. The wine is soft, fresh and creamy on the palate, leaving an abundance of vibrant, textured, rich and sweet red and black fruits on the finish. This is a great vintage of Saint-Pierre. Drink between 2028 and 2050.
